NoSuch Dame LB Manti "Snugglebunny" Te'o (official imaginary thread)

He would still be an upgrade over Maualuga at MLB for the Bengals.

That's what I am thinking...maybe he falls to the 17-20 range (wherever the Bungles are drafting). In a similar fashion, Mauluga got exposed big time last week. I think Te'o is fine and just needs to get in shape...the NFL doesn't allow you to get in that condition. However, I still might like Ogletree better.

A classic from Bill Livingston of the PD
There was the ESPN inflation of Tim Tebow, and now there appears to be a rather gross overestimation by sport's propaganda arm of ND's Manti Te'o. Alabama's Chance Warmack bulldozed, graded, and paved Te'o over. Eddie Lacy and T.J. Yeldon, who will both finish with over 100 yards, ran wild. Behind that line, so would Cagney and Lacey. Te'o had the ghastly kind of big-stage performance Rutgers' Phil Sellers had in the 1976 Final Four. Google it.

Dad is blacklisting the local media because it showed his son missing a tackle on the front page.

Sounds like one of the Irish fans who thinks Alabama was "lucky" to win the game.
I know a fathers' pride in his son is never ending, but does this man realize how much better Alabama was and how poorly Manti played??

Meh. They could've used a different picture.

Why would they? Manti Te'o was the star coming into this game. He was the in the Heisman race. He was touted as one of the best ever defensive players in collegiate ball. He was going to be the X Factor and the one player that everyone needed to know the location of.

What happened? His reign of dominance rained down only on himself. He didn't do anything that he was supposed to do, he was a bust.

Want to sell newspapers? Put a notorious celebrity on the page in an uncanny situation, tagged by a catchy title.

Thanks for giving the newspaper their interviews and photo opportunities through the season, but you can't expect them not to report the truth of the game, even if it hurts your pride, Brian Te'o. You want to be your son's marketer to the media? Grow some thick skin and get used to brutal honesty.

No, I don't. Sorry but they reported the truth, it sometimes hurts. Life sucks when you lose.

Maybe Brian Te'o would had preferred a front page Brian Kelly smiling with a caption of "Irish did their very very best in the game but unfortunately Alabama won by a close margin, sort of"

This whole new PC, "we have to be careful of everyone's feelings in life" is the reason every child now gets a trophy - even for last place. Its a damn shame that kids can't learn to grow thick skinned because adults are so damn weak to the ugly truth.

The paper was within its rights to run the headline and the pic. Te'o's dad is within his as well if he wants to refuse interviews, etc. if he's unhappy about the headline and story. The only bad part is Te'o's dad whining on Facebook about it. It smacks of not being ready for the big time and general immaturity.
