you can tell the athletes....or previous athletes...on this board....

the couch sitters think the world is over....the people who have actually played at a high level know about match ups and the ever increasing desire to improve...

the couchies think tOSU is going to lose four games this year....the actual posters that have competed believe.....believe in the ability to improve...

its as obvious as sun up......
You may be right ... they might improve, but I haven't seen much improvement from any of the positions, except controlling turnovers. I hope this loss will encourage them to improve more, but I just don't know. They still look awfully young.

young players can make the greatest jumps.....most especially when they think they are all that...and then have reality hit them in the face....

i havent seen much improvement either....but i have a real feeling that this week is going to be very spirited in practice....

the players know they are buckeyes...they know the expectations...now they really do know the expectations....and they dont like to lose....believe me...you think we are pissed.....we didnt play....we dont have a chance to make a national statement on saturday....

Well when I played Rugby in the Marines and overseas I had a coach from Australia tell me 5 keys to success!!!

#1 If they cannot stop what your doing do it till they stop you.

#2 Put your best athletes on the field.

#3 IF SOMETHING ISN'T WORKING YOU NEED TO CHANGE THE YOUR SCHEME OR PLAYCALLING.

#4 When you are winning go for the juggular and put them away. Don't let inferior teams hang around. Play to win don't play not to lose.

#5 The team that is most agressive will win everytime.

If the Buckeyes follow this formula the rest of the season they will win the rest of their games.

Cincy, Marshall, NCSU, and then NU...those are 4 wide open, quick hit offenses with lots of on the field checks for a young D...advantage offense.

As we settle into the rest of the B10, and the more "traditional" offenses, expect a huge improvement on the defensive effort...advantage tOSU

Trust me, the less that young players have to THINK, the better off they are in a game. Watch what happens when these kids can just line up and play...I may be wrong, happened before, but I am expecting a big effort come saturday

See I don't worry about blown assignments or missed tackles or things like that, because those can be easily fixed. What concerns me is that the D-line seems to be getting blown off the line of scrimmage. If I went up against our defense I would run it down our throat, because we don't have a strong D-line, and we don't like to adjust our defense when something isn't working. The one thing we have in our advantage is that teams have seemed to keep trying to pass the ball on us even if they are successful running it. Maybe they still have bad memories of last year? Im not sure.

Well, we really haven't had a good look at this team when the run is a main concern. The quick hit offense keeps the D-line off balance...pursuit mode rather than gap control. Teams have done an excellent job keeping the Bucks off balance thus far...time will tell.

I don't think the Northwestern game is the main stumbling block to winning the National championship. I believe the main stumbling block is the lack of a top level running back.

Twice in the fourth quarter Saturday, the Buckeyes were first and goal from inside the 5. Both drives yielded 3 points combined.

you know what....im glad we are playing a team that isnt going to rely on screen passes to gain yards. that has been giving us fits since marshall. finally a team that has the balls to run a real offense against us.

Yeah, except on those 2 possessions they ran the ball a total of once for a loss of 4 yards (and it was the savior Pittman) When you have a freaking 250 lb Halfback and first and goal inside the 5 it is time to make a statement. You either prove you can pound it in from 4 yards out or you need to take a serious look in the mirror.

We lost early enough that we can still get back in this but that shouldn't be our or our player's concern. If the Bucks win out they WILL get to another BCS bowl, perhaps not the title but even that is possible, and I will garauntee if we do that next year will be ANOTHER BCS bowl, making it 4 in a row with at least one national title in that span everyone needs to relax and realize we are still on course to possibly be the team of the decade.

GO BUCKS!!!

Well-- That's all you can do.. try your best to win the rest of them.

We'll know a lot about how they respond by Saturday.

Those of you who think that we still have a shot at a National Championship are crazy. Please make note of this, and keep it in your memory bank. If we play for and win the National Championship I will change my sig to, "spoken by the village idiot", for a full year.

Tibor is right for a change a loss to Northwestern means we have no shot. The media, for good reason, will not let us have a shot and they have a very big say now. Also if with a loss to Northwestern another loss is very likely to happen. It is time to lower expectations. Hopefully we can get a BCS game and a share of a Big Ten Championship.

Killer is right. Unless we are one of two one-loss teams (or the only one loss team, against one undefeated team), no way does tOSU get into the Orange this year. The media won't allow it, and they now have all the power.
