O-Zone (Official Thread)

"You guys are pretty hard on the guy. He is a little abrasive, but he is countering his thoughts with more details as to why he believes what he believes. I would think a discussion on why these types of drills might be worth any additional injury risk would be in order rather than the old "In Tressel We Trust" line.

Why might you do some of these drills?

How about a little variety? One of the key ways to continue to build muscle is to attack the muscle with different exercises. If you only use the same series of exercises, your body gets used to it and tends to plateau.

How about a little mental variety? Which is more fun? Trying to throw a tire or push a truck or run through quicksand or carry a team mate? Or the normal benchpress and leg press and blah blah blah.

Any other reasons? Not sure but then again, this is definitely not my area of specialty."

I completely agree, Fresh definitely brought up some valid points. I guess it is impossible to agree to disagree, but you have to prove the other person wrong while insulting him.

Here is what your friend Prince stated:

"Great to see the kind of drills the Bucks are going through.

Besides the Figure-8 and Bag Drills, the rest are pure garbage. It is no wonder why we were/are plagued by injuries."

Now, his conclusory statements are made in response to a link posted immediately above his post that shows a few photos appearing on the OZone site that covers a miniscual portion of "the drills the Bucks go through" that results in the Prince's words in OSU being "plagued by injuries." I think you have it backwards, chief. Your friend the Prince has not made a case to support his conclusory statements. He fails to describe all of the drills the players "are going through" and how those drills result in OSU players being plauged by injuries. If you want to make conclusory statements without support, there is already an OSU website known as Bucknuts that caters to that.

Nixon.

If you read my post, you'll see that I wasn't defending FreshPrince. I also believe that what he said in that particular post ( or at least the way that he said it) left himself wide open to be attacked. How you or I attack someone (or are attacked by someone) on this site is what will make this messege board the same as all the others, or different than the others. A difference of opinion, or a less than mature post, should not be a crime. The post in itself should be embarrassing enough.

Just a thought  .

I am not supporting everything Fresh says, I haven’t heard of any buckees tearing a rotator cup during spring drills, but I can see how it can happen and I did not think of it beforehand. Many posters add their opinions to these boards and have it come off like they are experts in every area of football knowledge. I wish he would have phrased it differently, but he did add something to this thread that was of value and obviously Al Johnson does not need Fresh’s advice, but I am glad he posted it. I just think things went a little overboard with the insults, agree to disagree.

OZone greetings all!

Long time OZoner so most of you Bucknutters prolly don't know me, but I have lurked over there for years and recognize most of you.

Nice site Clarity, Bucknuts stopped being a great source of info a long time ago and is being overrun with fans of other programs dilluting the info and the focus: ALL OHIO STATE ALL THE TIME!

I'll make a few bold predicitions to make my first post here a memorable one:

Zwick will be better than Krenzel by the time B10 play starts THIS season. He will become THE name associated with QB at OSU for decades to come. Believe the hype.

Lydell Ross will have a nice year...800 yards+ and a host of first down conversions on less carries than normal for an OSU RB. Haw will be the fan's choice for second/third stringer who should get more PT.

Troy Smith will be all over the place as the staff tries to find a way to get this athlete on the field. He'll be our slash....WR/RB/QB, but we won't have a QB controversy after we blow out UC n' Marshall and beat NCSU.

The reduction in running plays will benefit the TEs primarily...I think those fellas will be on the receiving end of a lot of quick drops and dumps into the flat.

When Zwick gets his timing settled and becomes comfortable we will see a lot more deep balls this year beginning in the 5th or 6th game of the seasopn...we are so loaded at WR and there is a lot of green in the secondaries of the B10.

We lost a TON of talent but the O will produce better numbers than 2003. The only significant drop off will be at punter.

Ginn will bring respectability back to the return game and will be a solid DB (steller for a freshman tho) that will show flashes of what will be. He will split time with Underwood and both will impress.

Schlegal, Hawk and Carp oh my!

Just some optimisitc musings to pass the time until Spring Ball. Thanks for all the effor to build and maintain the site and GO BUCKS!!!

I like your predictions. I will tell you that there will not be a QB controversey either because there never has been on a Tressel team. I also agree that the TEs will be featured, but so too will the WRs and the RBs - if you saw the Hula Bowl, you got a glimpse of things to come provided the O line is up to the task. IMO, this year's D is going to be fantastic. I don't recall an OSU team having this much speed across the board but especially at the big man positions. The pundits have been quick to all but ignore OSU in the polls thus far, and I believe this will actually work in OSU's favor by not placing any undue pressure on this young team early on. But just as the 2002 team that was untested in so many areas rose to the challenge, so too will the 2004 edition of the Buckeyes rise to the challenge.
