A trial involving a breach-ofcontract lawsuit that former men’s basketball coach Jim O’Brien filed against Ohio State is scheduled to begin Oct. 11.

The suit in the Ohio Court of Claims alleges O’Brien was improperly fired June 8. Athletics director Andy Geiger dismissed O’Brien after he admitted giving $6,000 to Aleksandar Radojevic, a recruit who later was ruled ineligible by the NCAA.

O’Brien argues that he should not have been fired until after the NCAA investigated the case. The university has contended its contract with O’Brien allowed the university to fire him for "any improper conduct that, in Ohio State’s reasonable judgment, reflects adversely on Ohio State or its athletic programs." Ohio State this month filed a nine-page response to O’Brien’s suit denying all breach-of-contract allegations.
