Play action helps receivers and the oline tremendously. We rarely go play action especially on first down now.

First down is almost always Weber left just like it was Zeke left last year when our play calling sucked ass.

Go back and watch ND, ttun, and OU games. First down was play action almost all night. Not any more for some reason.

I recall multiple screens to Weber against PSU.

I recently talked to guy that played OL for Florida during the transition when Dan Mullen left. He gave me some inside knowledge. In order to keep an amazing OL coach on staff, Urban promoted Addazio to OC. After winning a national title, the 09 team beat the hell out of bad teams, then struggled to score against better teams only able to win due to defense, and eventually lost to Bama to end the season. They were technically still in it as undefeated but it was similar to last year where we were just waiting for the die to roll snake eyes. Then in '10 they couldn't score on any team that had a semblance of a defense. We haven't gone down that far in 2 years, and I can't imagine '16 for us ending the same as the '10 season did at Florida, but I remember how bad it was I was in Gainesville those two years. Addazio just had an offensive philosophy that was pro-style and run-based. Whereas Urban was spread and speed. The different philosphy didn't matter so much when Addazio was just an OL coach. Addazio would would have been great as an OC in a pro style system, and when he moved on to HC at Boston College he was immediately successful calling the type of offense that he preferred to run (though it now appears to be going downhill). I just don't think Warinner fits as an OC under Urban's system, but think he could have similar success if he was playing under a pro style HC or was a HC.

Some screens to Weber, and many of those were just his check down option. That wouldn't stop the pass rush. What many people here are saying is a quick designed screen to a WR can force the pass rush to back down and players out of the box opening up some running lanes and getting some time to throw downfield. We had a similar problem last year when we were blitzed competently, we just kept trying to throw downfield, run off tackle or run inside, just reinforcing the pass rush, loaded box and defense playing downhill. We were only successful once we started to get creative and spread it out.

Actually it's been said that if Warriner goes he takes Beck since they're good friends... IMO I'd like to see Warriner be OL coach again but that's not happening so we may be better suited if Beck/Warriner do go to WKU. No idea how WKU pays Beck what we pay him though.
