Haha what I love is the last line... "especially now that he's at Ohio State".

Yeah UFM is going to just let Kevin Wilson run the show and is going to let him rot the program with his toxic treatment of medical staff (/sarcasm). The same UFM that ESPN claims will never be able to ease off and give some control to others.

So which is it ESPN in regards to UFM? Control freak or Trustful delegator?

Whatever gets clicks. Maybe a little more ad revenue and they can stop the layoffs.

IF we manage to win it all this year, expect an article titled "did Ohio state sell out on morals for a title". If you pop into the recruiting forum you'll see a post that sums up recruiting with the number of top 100 players thus far. OSU has 8, rest of the big ten has 8 combined, entire sec has 5 combined, and I think the other p5 conferences all sit between 5 and 8. They may realize that they bought high on the sec whereas fox bought relatively low on the big ten. I expect to see them trash us and the rest of the conference at every opportunity to try and reverse the trend.

They can try and all they want to, but kids see the wins, and kids want to play for winners and then play in the league. OSU is a place that can provide all of that, even in the face of negative recruiting and media coverage. Another storyline will also be, "Urban will have enough and leave", or something to those lines to insinuate that Urban will leave, "like he does every program he coaches". It's all BS and sour grapes, IMO. Bama has dealt with all of this madness of years and the machine is still rolling in Tuscaloosa(of all places), Columbus and OSU has more to offer in my book, and nothing is derailing this train, not an embarrassing CFP loss, coaches going for better positions, or draft picks yearly.

A Wilson a Day

There were several reasons why Urban Meyer chose to move the Ohio State Buckeyes offense in a new direction with two new offensive coordinator hires. One of those reasons was because Ed Warinner and Tim Beck decided to leave “of their own volition”, but another reason was the lack of development at the quarterback position.

In 2014, J.T. Barrett was the most productive quarterback in Buckeye history under Tom Herman as a redshirt freshman. In his two seasons under Beck and in Warinner’s offense, however, he has had trouble winning the starting job, and he’s been the subject of fans’ desires to be benched. That’s a pretty staggering fall in a short amount of time.

With OSU recruiting quarterbacks at a pace they’ve never really done before, without development, all of the recruiting successes would just be wasted.

Young quarterbacks Joe Burrow, Dwayne Haskins, and Tate Martell were each some of the top prospects in the nation while in high school. Meyer’s expectation is that with Ryan Day and Kevin Wilson now coaching them, there won’t be the same lack of development that has plagued the Buckeyes the previous two seasons.

So how did things go this spring for the QBs and their new coaches?

“I feel like he does a great job with calling plays and knowing when to call the right plays,” Haskins said of Wilson this spring. “When he was at Indiana he had like three 1,000-yard receivers, two 1,000-yard running backs, he just does a really good job of incorporating the offense with everybody. He and Coach Day have done a good job of innovating, adding new plays, adding new wrinkles to plays, new motions and formations and new routes. He’s done a really good job.”

“He’s a fiery guy,” added Burrow. “He’s a great leader, we all just follow his lead, execute the plays that he calls and try to go from there.”

Ohio State ‘Highest Standards’ Kevin Wilson Has Ever Been Part Of

Kevin Wilson has been around. He played his college football at North Carolina, which is also where he began his coaching career as a graduate assistant in 1984. From there he spent a few years enhancing his resume at smaller schools around the state. Then came a job as the offensive line coach for Miami (OH) in 1990 under first-year head coach Randy Walker.

Wilson would spend the next 11 years with Walker, moving with him to Northwestern. In 2002, he took the job as the co-offensive coordinator at Oklahoma. After nine seasons with head coach Bob Stoops and the Sooners, Wilson finally left for a head coaching position of his own. He took over the Indiana football program in 2011 and brought his high-energy offense to the Hoosiers and the Big Ten.

Now, however, he finds himself at Ohio State. The offensive coordinator of Urban Meyer’s Buckeyes.

For the first time since 2010, Kevin Wilson is an assistant coach again.

There is an adjustment period for any coach in Wilson’s situation. OSU defensive coordinator Greg Schiano went through it the year before. It can be jarring to go from running your own program and worrying about every facet of it, to just focusing on your one particular position or side of the ball.

And doing something someone else’s way after years of doing it however you wanted isn’t exactly a former head coach’s favorite thing to do.

How has that adjustment gone for Wilson?

Very well by all accounts.

“The real adjustment to me has just been Coach Meyer’s passion and energy and direction every day is at another level,” Wilson said this spring. “You’re on point. I just feel like as a coach he demands my best every day, and he demands it from J.T., he demands it from every person in our organization across the board.”

..... what fanbase would that be? are there actual tOSU fans that could possibly be alienated by espin at this point? is that really plausible..?

i gotta think the only segments of this country that watch espin at any significant length for college athletics anymore are likely ones that don't have conference specific networks. so its no real surprise to me to see the sec network air pro sec programming and stories.
