Offensive Line Recruits

Gold Pants
Really excited about this year's OL recruits. Pridgeon and Jordan at OT, Gerald and Cupp at OG and Wohalbaugh at C. Big, strong, athletic guys. As a JUCO Pridgeon is the most ready to play and if not a starter in 2016 will immediately be in the two deep and contibute. The other guys are longer range prospects but I would not be surprised if they all were eventual starters down the road.

Outside of the JUCO I suspect Wohalbaugh might be the first to get playing time with Elfien leaving after this year. He will compete with Taylor at C but should be in the two deep in 2017.

Exciting times for the good guys!

Yeah, not many people talk about Cupp or Gerald but I have a feeling they are gonna be some nasty good guards for us before long. I suspect Price slides over to center in 2017 but after him it should be Wohlabaugh's time to shine. Seems like we always have a good center here, and the future looks to be more of the same.

I honestly see Taylor as the next in line at C after Elflein, though it'd be a great battle against Wohlabaugh. I'd leave Price at G, and see who's best out of Knox, Burrell. If Jones loses his OT spot, I'm sure it'd just be a one hear thing and then he's back at it in 2017 after Pridgeon most likely leaves if he tears it up this year. There's a lot of young talent on the O line. And we can't forget about the monster projects in Bowen and Feder

I have the same impression regarding Cupp and Gerald AND Wohlabaugh for that matter.

I really like how this OL class compliments the previous class. In '14, we landed some guys who will be ready to play this year and top-shelf talent. In '15 we took some guys that may be considered projects but with huge ceilings that might well be ready to get into the two deep...plus we needed tackles and definitely got tackle types in Prince, Feder and Bowen (Schmidt as well). This year we took a really well rounded class with three interior OL and two sure-fire tackles. Pridgeon can compete right away and I think the rest will benefit with a year to develop their bodies...OL is the toughest position to play right away and we won't be forced into that.

As to the talent, I think we did about as well as anyone. Jordan is a serious talent at tackle, Pridgeon was one of the best JUCO prospects in the country, I consider Gerald top 5 at the guard position and could see him playing sooner rather than later, Wohlabaugh has an excellent film and the coaches are very high on him, and I do think Cupp is underrated...love that he earned his offer. Join them up with '14 and '15, plus Studrawa and Warriner coaching them? I just don't see how our OL will be anything but awesome in the coming years, even after losing all that talent this year.

And that's not mentioning the '17 class that's coming. Got to see Myers practice a few times and one live game and he's ridiculously good; like he's grown playing boys. Probably the best OL prospect from Ohio since Pace. That's fantastic company. Not saying he will be Pace but he's got great work ethic and strong as a bull. There will be no automatic spots on the OL roster with this staff and the guys being recruited. That fact is what will keep this team in the top 5 in the country year in year out.

Great point and agreed on Myers...unless he slides big time (which I don't see happening), I would say right up there above Boone and somewhere in the Pace realm at this point. Then if we hang onto Moretti, I am EXTREMELY high on him as well. We have done all the right things to make sure we have great continuity at a position we struggled with in the last era.
