A note in sportsline's Dodd's and Ends
Perhaps the fault lies with Dodd.

Per BuckeyeXtra - 14 hours ago.

No way Buckeyes get leapt over according to --> Jerry Palm!!

If either No. 1 Missouri or No. 2 West Virginia loses Saturday (to Oklahoma or Pittsburgh, respectively), the Buckeyes should easily slide into the national championship game regardless of who wins behind them.
So says BCS analyst Jerry Palm, who runs the collegebcs.com Web site.
"I don't see any realistic scenario where Ohio State would get jumped," Palm said.
Mainly, that's because the Buckeyes are a strong No. 3 in both the USA Today and Harris Interactive polls, receiving some first-place votes. Because of that support, Palm does not see another team capable of a big enough boost to climb all the way to No. 2.
"They would have to get some first-place votes, practically, and I don't see that happening," Palm said.
However, if both Missouri and West Virginia lose, Palm predicts that the Buckeyes' title-game opponent would be Louisiana State if the Tigers win in the Southeastern Conference championship game. Georgia (fourth in the BCS) is idle.
So, err, what was that Dodd fellow saying again?

Yep, balanced offenses=BORING while one-dimensional offenses=Must See Tv. How could I have been so blind?
No no no. See teams that play defense = boring. Who wants to see a team hold its rival to 91 yards. Now teams that don't play defense = exciting cause then you get 40 point shoot outs.

Bottom line

Seems like every major sports outlet is pissed off that #1 the season has come down to Mizzou and West Va. #2 The Buckeyes are waiting on deck once again for a 1 or 2 to sliip AGAIN. # 3 that all of thier pre-season picks and outcomes were blown away by week 3 of this yr.

We had a weak schedule this yr yes, but every team ahead of us lost. Don't hate the Buckeyes people , hate the system. And now everyone ahead of the Bucks has lost again. Isn't that how it works? If you lose , you move out of the way to see what the next team can do, and so on and so on.

I like how Cowherd ( of ESPN radio) is all of a sudden a Buckeye Banger. He says that Ohio State has no athletes. And we never schedule anyone tough. So I guess Cowherd didn't watch any ball last yr, because last I remember and saw , we played 3 ........yes 3 #2 ranked teams last yr. And won 2 of those. Losing the most important one .
He also said the Big Ten is just old run style offenses. Ahhh hello...........Purdue is a Spread, Northwestern is a Spread, Illinois is a Spread, Mich St. is at times a Spread. This guy is so caught up in SEC , USC glam that he has blinders on when it comes to everyone else. And as far a talentless, We (Ohio State) have theeee 2nd most active NFL players in the League, let alone the # of 1st rounders out of a major program( 2nd to Miami).

Regardless of what bowl we go to ............The Rose or the Suger. With everyone banging and saying that Ohio State is talentless and doesn't belong where they are , I feel sorry for whatever team we play. Tressel will definately motivate the players. He learns from his mistakes, and is always ready for a Big Game. His record speaks volums, both Div. 1 and 2.

All the haters can go spit!!!!!...............................:oh:

The other day I got really pissed off about the article on ESPiN.com from Mark Schlabach, but now it has just gotten out of hand. It pissed me off at first, but now I can agree with most of the other here now...it is just downright funny. I wouldn't give into it, just brush it off.

Exactly!

Offense sells tickets and gets media hype.

Defense wins championships!

I bet coach Carroll is scheduling surgery to have bristles implanted in the head of his dick, so Colon Coward can reach those "hard-to-get" places when he brushes his teeth.
He sure is in love with So-Cal all of a sudden, possibly to make up for his comments about them a month ago. His show might be good if he wasn't so full of shit.

It's easy to hate the Buckeyes because of their success (minus last year's championship game). Just like many fans (not media) have hated USC for a while now because of their success over the past 5 years.

Cow-herd is a shock jock. Next week he'll be bashing another team/individual. Well, maybe not since it is popular to bash the Bucks right now.

I guarantee the Bucks will NOT go to the Sugar Bowl. They may go to the BCS National Championship game though.

We've heard about some of Ivan Maisel's comments made on Cowherd's show. Of course it's pretty hard to post audio clips on a locker room cork board. Thankfully Maisel did the Buckeyes the favor of putting it in print. Most of the good stuff is in the sidebars. Some has been mentioned already. He claims West Virginia would LOVE to take on Ohio State, because Pat White would obviously score 7 touchdowns minimum against that slow plodding defense. Though it's not like he quotes interviews with any players or coaches, so one can only assume he pulls this conclusion out of the ether. Some of it is new. He uses an ESPN.com internet poll to demonstrate that most of the country would want to see Mizzou play West By God -as though the BCS is American Idol and a fan vote means anything. Except the poll shows the state of WV which wants tOSU. He presumes it's so they can get an easy championship game. I bet Wisconsin jumped on the Outback Bowl rather than the Alamo Bowl was because they thought it would be easier to beat an SEC team than a Big XII team.

I have never understood the whole TOSU/Big 10 slow thing. I assume it comes from the fact that we actually USE the RB's on our team. Athlete for athlete, or 40 time for 40 time we much up very well with any team in the nation!

In regards to the "TOSU cannot play against the spread team with an athletic QB" statements that have been said by the media: Ask Vince Young which team defensively gave him the hardest game, ask Michael Robinson. Chris Leak should never be defined as "athletic", and out of the 4 games in question, that is the only one where the D didn't play well. Do people really believe that players like JL, Gholston, Heyward, Marcus Freeman are slow? If so, well CFB is in for a surprise no matter what bowl game we go to.
