10 reasons LSU will win BCS title

By Pete Fiutak

It's over. LSU has been handed the national title in the court of public opinion, so go on about your lives everyone. Find something else to do Jan. 7.

In case they actually do decide to go through the motions, here are 10 reasons why LSU will win the national title.

He also did a 10 reasons for Ohio State as well in another column. Fiutak has been, for the most part, fair to Ohio State. Although he picked LSU to win in his game column, he defended Ohio State against the silly SEC speed myth.

You are correct. He did this last year to for both tOSU and UF. Fiutak has been one of the few in our corner the entire year.

I actually saw the OSU one first, but that one has nothing to match the obnoxious "LSU is better...LSU is better...LSU is better" at the end of this one. The funny thing is, his list of reasons why LSU will win is not very convincing. It seems to me he really wants to pick us but is afraid of the old 0-8 bowl streak.

I could see how someone might say that Fiutak has been fair, although I personally think he takes jabs at OSU (e.g., he loves throwing last year's NC game in OSU's face when discussing OSU and it seemingly is irrelevant, and he's always careful to add some colorful way to describe OSU's loss, such as "OSU was embarrassed, run out of the stadium, absolutely crushed, etc." instead of simply saying "OSU was beaten in last year's NC game"). But to say that he's "in our corner" simply isn't true.

Thats because we were.

I'm not saying we weren't. I'm simply saying that someone's not in OSU's corner if they use every instance of OSU's name coming up to rehash the NC game and remind everyone what a blowout it was. In this respect, he's doing what Mark May does every night on ESPN, just in a little more dignified manner.

Sorry, but last year's embarrassment is on everyone's mind heading into this game - and that includes Ohio State fans, players, and coaches.

He mentions it because it surrounds the lead-up to this game. The telling difference between Fiutak and Mark May is that Fiutak knows Ohio State can line up and play with LSU, and even last year's Florida for that matter. May's analysis that it all comes down to so-called "SEC-speed" is shortsighted and just plain lazy. That's what pisses me off more than anything else. I don't care if someone picks against Ohio State - so long as they don't fall through the same lazy cliche.

I know what you're saying. Up until this year, I really disliked him especially for always saying Archie didn't deserve his second Heisman. But he has been defending our legitimacy all season long when no one else was. I think he's been very fair for the most part.
