I'm not saying we weren't. I'm simply saying that someone's not in OSU's corner if they use every instance of OSU's name coming up to rehash the NC game and remind everyone what a blowout it was. In this respect, he's doing what Mark May does every night on ESPN, just in a little more dignified manner.

I feel like this guy does it as stating the facts. which, sad as it is, is a fact. may gay makes statements like "lsu's oline practices against that amazing dline everyday, while osu's practices against whatever they have. the difference is like college to nfl". that sort of garbage is akin to "the holocaust was a myth" or "I invented the internet"

I'd pay anything to see May line up against Gholston for a series...

Sorry, but last year's embarrassment is on everyone's mind heading into this game - and that includes Ohio State fans, players, and coaches.

He mentions it because it surrounds the lead-up to this game.

Wasn't just in his articles leading up to the NC game. It has been all season if you've been reading Fiu's articles.

One comment by an analyst during the Illinois basketball game last night occurred when Matt Terwilliger was going off, getting rebounds and playing strong basketball. He said that when you practice against Greg Oden, you're bound to improve drastically in a single year.

Well, Vernon Gholston is very likely to be playing next year for the Patriots as a linebacker, in the mold of Mike Vrabel. With his emergence this year as one of the elite defensive linemen in the country, you can't tell me our guards are going to be outstanding. And when you have to stop fast guys like Chekwa and Jenkins from blitzing, and quick, strong guys like Laurinaitis and Freeman, I doubt our tackles and Cordle are too intimidated.

Not sure if anyone else saw this. Watching ESPiN the other night when of all things a Verizon wireless commercial came on and as they babbled on about the Vcast feature and it's ability to give you up to the minute sports updates they show a phone with a screen shot on it and guess what they chose out of all the millions of potential sporting events of the past years? UF 41 tOSU 14, absolutely amazing. Even the cell phone companies have to jump into the fray. My only guess is that they aren't selling enough subscriptions in the sunshine state and don't want any business in the Buckeye state. Damn am I glad I have AT&T, otherwise I would be out getting a new cell phone, and what a pain in the ass that is.

Um, sorry, you just used facts. Uh uh. That doesnt fly. All that matters: there is good and there is evil in this world. There is black and there is white. And all that matters is that the Big 10 is a shitty conference under any circumstance, and the SEC is the reincarnation of JoeCool himself.

Glad you let me know about that commercial, I was thinking of switching over to Verizon, but now I think I'll be getting me that new LG slider from AT&T instead.

Sporting News: That old 'no respect' routine? Get over it

That old 'no respect' routine? Get over it

January 4, 2008

Matt Hayes

NEW ORLEANS -- They're overlooking us. You're overlooking us. The homeless guy outside Mother's on Poydras is overlooking us.

I'm now officially tired of the "no respect" routine. We've heard it for a month now. Ohio State shouldn't be here, doesn't get respect and will flat-out open the gates of hell when it takes the field at the Superdome on Monday.

So anyway, there was this young radio guy from Baton Rouge roaming around the media hotel today, and apparently, he'd had enough too. So he started asking LSU players if they were being overlooked.

"Overlooked?" says LSU wideout Early Doucet, who, bless his soul, felt pity for the kid before continuing. "We're not overlooked. And I can assure you that we aren't overlooking Ohio State."

Frankly, I'm now overlooking this whole overlooking deal. I watched Michigan play Florida on New Year's Day in a glorified home game for the Gators, and if it weren't for two Mike Hart fumbles -- which, I'm told, is akin to opening the gates of hell -- the Wolverines would've opened a can of my-conference-is-better-than-yours.

cont'd...
