Official BCS-CG Bulletin Board Thread

Add Colin Cowherd to the list. I like Cowherd, but he is on the WVU bandwagon.
Some of the highlights:

Ohio State's defense can not beat a spread team the likes of WVU.

You think the Florida game was bad? Ohio State can not stop a team with a spread and an athletic quarterback. That game will be painful.

Their last 4 losses have come against teams with athletic quarterbacks (Texas, Penn State, Florida, Illinois). WVU is significantly better than Illinois.

Wow. Did Oklahoma suffer at the hands of the media like this after they got slobberknocked by USC in the NC game? I've never seen a team (Ohio State) get stained so much by a loss.

I was listening to Colin today bash the Bucks. Aww I was getting really ticked. Finally, I noticed he was getting really worked up. I was actually enjoying him working himself up about OSU. I think he was jealous/nervous about how OSU may be in the title game. This thought put a smile on my face. I think all this talk about how OSU doesn't deserve being there will now make our "jouney" to the Title game great. I will love to be able to shove this down Colin's throught. I want him and everyone else (Mark "mary" May) to say "Yea, we were wrong. OSU is the best team this year."

This will make my day :wink2:

Of course Oklahoma was not stained by the loss. USC is a bunch of media darlings. Losing to them by 36 points is a privilege, not an embarrassment in the medias eyes. When we ruin the medias story, they strike back hard.

Well, somebody is giving the Luckeyes some love ...

From CFN's rankings:
1. Missouri (11-1)
W, Kansas 36-28
next game: Oklahoma in the Big 12 Championship
The Ranking Should Be Lower Because ? the defense got lit up like the Fourth of July in the second half. Kansas was able to throw better than it was being given credit for in the first half, shooting itself in the foot on scoring drives, but it did whatever it wanted to after Mizzou got up big. Oklahoma?s passing game, if it?s clicking, should be able to dominate.
2. Ohio State (11-1)
Didn?t Play This Week
next game: BOWL GAME
The Ranking Should Be Higher Because ? all of a sudden, the win over Michigan looks fantastic and being 11-1 in a BCS conference might just be enough to make a national title shot happen. With this defense, the Buckeyes really might be the best team in America.
The Ranking Should Be Lower Because ... it?ll take others losing for OSU to play for the national title. Do you really want to see a team backdoor its way into the championship game? Oh yeah ? 2006 Florida.

3. West Virginia (11-1)
W, Connecticut, 66-21
next game: Pitt
The Ranking Should Be Higher Because ? everything?s working on offense. The running game is in high gear, the defense is fine, and Pat White and Steve Slaton are locked in. The national title is now there for the taking, and the team is playing like it.
The Ranking Should Be Lower Because ... it?s time to be honest; the Big East isn?t any big deal. Should a national title team struggle that much with Louisville and Cincinnati? Is hanging 66 on Connecticut anything to brag about? At this point, the best win this year appears to be over, well, uh, Mississippi State?

4. Oklahoma (10-2)
W, Oklahoma State 49-17
next game: Missouri in the Big 12 Championship
The Ranking Should Be Higher Because ? you?re going to pick the Sooners to beat Missouri. If everything is clicking and the defense actually shows up, like it did against Oklahoma State, this might be the best team in America. Talent-wise, this is the best team in the Big 12 and it?s not even remotely close.
The Ranking Should Be Lower Because ... when?s the next letdown going to come? Can the team actually function away from home? It?s stunning how good the Sooners are on their home turf and how vulnerable they appear to be away from it. If Chase Daniel plays like he did against Kansas, OU could go from the Fiesta Bowl to the Holiday or Cotton Bowl in a big hurry.

5. LSU (10-2)
L, Arkansas 50-48 3OT
next game: Tennessee in the SEC Championship
The Ranking Should Be Higher Because ? it took two three overtime games for this team to lose twice. It?s not like anyone has stepped up and blasted the Tigers. Again, two, three-overtime games. Talent-wise, only USC and Oklahoma can come close to matching LSU?s speed and athleticism.
The Ranking Should Be Lower Because ... the defense has finally been exposed as ridiculously overrated. The stats might not show it, but the D had way too many problems with inconsistent Ole Miss and Arkansas offenses. A defense as good this one is supposed to be demolishes quarterbacks like Brent Schaeffer and Casey Dick.

6. Georgia (10-2)W, at Georgia Tech 31-17
next game: BOWL GAME
The Ranking Should Be Higher Because ? there isn?t a more confident team in the country. Even when things aren?t going all that well, like in the Georgia Tech game for extended stretches, one or two playmakers step up. Over the last five weeks, Georgia has beaten five bowl teams by double-digit points.
The Ranking Should Be Lower Because ... is this a mirage? Can the team really maintain this focus and intensity for several off weeks? Now the spotlight is going to be on as the ?it? team going into the bowls, and now, without the SEC Championship to play in, the month off might cool

Caller war on Rome right now. An apparent SEC fan (southern drawl) called in and said "the Buckeyes cannot beat the spread, WVU beat bowl eligible! Mississippi St and Cincinnnati in Cincy. Who did the Buckeyes beat--Wisconsin. Buckeyes, Florida, Texas and Illinois beat you, you cannot beat the spread. I think my call should be the "huge call" unless a Buckeye fan can call in an [refute] what I've said."

Rome: "I agree. Buckeyes can't beat the spread, WVU's fast, how would the Buckeyes handle White, Slaton and Devine. WVU put up 66 points against UConn..."

Buckeye caller: "It's not our fault everyone on our schedule sucked, we only stumbled once, it's true the Buckeyes have trouble against the spread, the Sweater Vest is gonna have to figure that out..." :mad2:

Rome: "That's a good call, and I guarantee you I'd get 20 consecutive calls from Buckeye fans saying the same exact thing. 'Not our fault our schedule sucked, we beat almost all comers',... But WVU has speed."

No, Romey, that's not the typical Buckeye call.

Oooh, they beat Cincinnati and Mississippi St, I'm so impressed! Bizarre cognitive dissonance. I guess if you want the "huge call," LOL, dial Romey up, waste an hour of your life waiting, and refute the Buckeye hater.

1) Given a month to prepare for the spread, the Buckeyes would do much better.
2) This defense is basically 1 year more experienced, all across the board, than last year's defense that florida beat.

I honestly doubt that Mizzou loses twice to OU, so it's probably a moot point, but what we lacked in last years BCS game was the ol' eye of the tiger. We weren't fresh, hungry, angry, and on edge. We were overconfident. That won't happen this year, and that's the best thing we could ask for.

Regardless of opponent, we just need Todd to play like he was at mid-season. If we can do that, and play defense with aggression and the edge, we'll be fine.

Those teams had something else in common: a great defense, or at least a defense that played great on that day. In early 2005, the offense wasn't clicking, but both UT and PSU had great defenses. In January, our offense didn't even show up, and Florida had a great defense. Against Illinois, both our offensive and defensive lines played poorly, among other things. Can't take it away from Illinois though, J Leman was outstanding.

Ohio State has played teams that are much better geared for stopping our power running game than WVU is; and we trucked them. Penn State is #4 in Differential Rush Defense, and Beanie did just fine. If our running game is clicking, and I strongly suspect that it will be, WVU's defensive effort will not even approximate what the 4 teams previously mentioned did.

But of course, I should stop right there. The point of this thread is to revel in the almost unprecedented level of disrespect that the Buckeyes are getting this year. I bet this thread will be a very fun read in January.

Yeah, because they all crawled on their knees and begged for forgiveness in 2002...:roll1:

Sorry, but the fact is that the sports media is becoming a joke. It's all about sensationalizing. Since when did silly predictions take the place of actual analysis? Just watch the end of College Gameday - do Kirk or Lee actually give any intelligent insight into their picks? No, they just pick 'em to be picking 'em.

And then when the morons get it wrong, they're never held accountable. Fuck the whole lot of 'em. Rome and Cowturd are just two ass-sucking morons lucky to have a radio voice. But their commentary is worthless drivel designed to infuriate the listener.

Trevor Matich on ESPN's College Football Live made an interesting argument as to why he wanted to see us in the NC game. As he put it, there are intriguing sub plots to a WVU-OSU NC game. All year long we played to avenge our loss last year, and all year long critics across the nation lament over our perceived lack of speed and our perceived inability to defend teams from speed conferences. "A great plodding team in a plodding conference" as he put it. Now, we have one chance to prove everyone wrong. Losing is not an option, as a loss would deal a heavy blow for our school's reputation, as well as our conference.

I think if you want ratings, you pick the Bucks. Why? Well, for every Buckeye tuning in to watch the game, there are probably five others tuning in hoping to see us get spanked. If things bounce our way, hopefully we'll make those other five eat crow for breakfast on Jan. 8th.

If we didn't complain so much they wouldn't be saying it so much. These guys are not college football analysts, they are media company salesmen, and our stupid asses are buying.

Personally, I don't know about one word of this stuff untill I see it here. I do not listen to sports talk radio or watch pre/post game shows on TV. I don't click on the featured commentary stuff and I avoid ESPN's site.

If you overheard someone commenting on something really controversial and stupid said on the Springer show, would you blame Springer or the dumbfuck who thinks its real?
