That article is garbage.
True
The person who wrote that is garbage.
Sounds a little extreme, don't you think?
The editor that allowed that to be printed is garbage!
Not interested in journalism, I'd buy... but garbage?
seriously, where were these assholes when WVU got ran off the field by USF? WVU is a great team, but there is no fucking way they beat us by 5 touchdowns. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

You know where they were? Trying to figure out if they could exploit the WVU fanbase, when they realized.. of course not... WVU doesn't give a fuck what we say. Let's call OSU a fraud, and then our readership will quadruple.

Quit being pawns.

I moved some posts in to this thread from the WVU thread.. sorry if it (the convo flow) looks jumbled.

Open note: Posting your thoughts in a single thread will be considered sufficient. While posting the same thing in multiple threads will be considered unnecessary. Thanks.

Some great moments in Sports-talk history:

2002 = Ohio State should decline their BCS invite, this game will be a blowout if they play Miami, we're looking forward to a major blowout in BCS History.

2006 = This game won't even be close, Ohio State is going to blow Florida off the field in the first half, Michigan should be here and everyone in the country knows it.

There's a reason the game is played on the field and not in talk radio. There's also a reason that 4 out of the last 5 BCS NC's have been won by underdogs. People can say "a conference is down" but that doesn't really make it so. USC/Texas everyone said USC was the best thing in the world, Vince Young thought otherwise.

All they are doing is getting you guys to bite, they are talking and getting reactions of out people like us who don't play the game, last I checked I wasn't on the field, which is a good thing since I am 6'2" tall and weigh a whoppin 140. Talk radio is opinions, no one can say what's going to happen on the field, no matter how much of a genius they claim to be, A football game is 60 minutes, a lot can happen in that time.

Why the fuck does anyone care what anyone else thinks? If Mizzou loses and tOSU makes the Championship game, deserving or not, we're there. I don't care if anyone outside the state watches if the Buckeyes are in.

If they don't make it, fine. They shouldn't have lost to Illinois. If they do make it, then fuck the rest of you fans because your teams should not have lost, too.

If they happen to make it and happen to win, every head on tv can talk about how they didn't deserve to be there or how they were the worst team ever to win a Championship. I don't give a rats ass. You do what you need to do to get to the game, and then you win. It's as simple as that!!!

I agree 100%. As I said I usually don't listen to this shit and I especially don't go around ESPN.com looking for "tOSU/Big Ten is a joke" articles. I happened to be home form work early and caught PTI when I was relaxing and that quote made me say WTF. So I looked for a few of his articles jsut for the hell of it and I came across this beauty.

You are right though, it really did get under my skin, A LOT. I guess this just makes me realize how much of a joke SPN really is.

By the way, considering my last couple of posts, don't get me wrong, I enjoy some fodder as much as the next guy, and I have no problem with accountability for absurd remarks by the media, I am just suggesting that there's a pretty clear reason why these idiots target Ohio State, and it's because our fan base gets worked up about it.

That may be a good thing - I mean, we fucking care. Which is cool, and one of the reasons why Ohio State and Ohio State football is great... it's important to us.

But...

sending 1800 e-mails to Cowherd in 30 seconds is precisely what he wants. It makes him "important" or whatever.... If he felt like he'd get more reaction out of ripping on Mizzu, make no mistake.. he would.

After reading the article again, your point makes a lot of sense. There is no "gray line" involved, it was basically a lets see how hard we can cut into tOSU football fanbase. At least I didn't give him the respect of sending him a hate mail. He should already know he's an idiot.

I'm beginning to wonder if every other Ohio St. fan fell asleep between Nov 19th and Jan 8th because I keep seeing this.

I saw no one in the national media pick us to blow out Florida and as time wore on, Florida became the trendy pick. The consensus seemed to be tOSU by 7 or so. It was nothing like '05 USC or '02 Cryami.

Truth is, I've had to catch myself from calling in to shows and/or writing "fact based" discourses proving them wrong this past couple of days as well... Catch myself may be strong, I guess, since I never have seriously considered it, but I have found myself arguing with these idiots as I listen to them on the radio, for example. Thinking about what I would say if I did call in or whatever....

You gotta love his arguement though! Our schedule is a joke compared to USC's. First off, why are we comparing OSU to USC? USC has no shot at a national title.

Nebraska v. Washington- Colin said that in USC's defense, Nebraska has 9 titles and was scheduled 6 years ago. Now correct me if I am wrong, which I'm not, but didn't Washington go 10-1 in 2000! This year, with a healthy Jake Locker, Washington would light the blackshirts up. Hell, Washington gave USC a fight.

Akron- Notre Dame- Please, is colin going to argue that Akron is worse than Notre Dame! Nice name drop, but the product is awful.

YSU-Idaho- Colins reasoning was that the game was scheduled for Nick Holt. The former coach at Idaho. I guess he is no longer there, and USC attempted to back out but couldn't. Can anyone think of any reason why Ohio State would schedule YSU? We don't have any conections there... right?

Now, I am not trying to justify our schedule this year, it is a joke. But to say we are less deserving than schools like USC is BS. Colin thinks that our confrence is weak! Yet, with a UCLA win and ASU loss, a 7-5 UCLA team will win the confrence.

When listening on the radio (XM Sat. in my car) I tend to just laugh it off and tell myself they are just fucking puppets. I guess I got so pissed at this because there was no "its going to be a good game but WVU might run away with it". It was "tOSU sucks, is slow and can/will never even touch Slaton or White." I should have just ignored it as usual...:oh:

95% of the media invented the same lie. The supposed disparity was UM vs UF, and a pretty minimal one at that.

OSU was routinely regarded as the better team. But never were they supposed to outclass/outrun their opponent, like we'll might see if WVU/OSU play.
