Official Cleveland Browns Draft Thread

scarletngrey11

All right, all right, all right.
It looks like we'll end up with the #3 pick. Offensive tackle is a popular pick by most fans, so I decided to look at the OT's that made the Pro Bowl this year, and in the recent past to see where they were drafted.

Willie Anderson (Bengals) - 1st round (10th pick) in 1996
Jonathan Ogden (Ravens) - 1st round (4th pick) in 1996
Tarik Glenn (Colts) -1st round (19th pick) in 1997
Walter Jones (Seahawks) - 1st round (6th pick) in 1997
Jammal Brown (Saints) - 1st round (13th pick) in 2005
Chris Samuels (Redskins) - 1st round (3rd pick) in 2000
Willie Roaf (Chiefs) - 1st round (8th pick) in 1993
Orlando Pace (Rams) -1st round (1st pick) in 1997
Brad Hopkins (Titans) - 1st round (13th pick) in 1993
Flozell Adams (Cowboys) 2nd round (8th pick) in 1998

Amazingly, only one tackle not drafted in the first round has made the Pro Bowl in the last 5 years. This confirms what many scouts and draft specialists say, the only way to get a franchise tackle is to draft one in the first round. This is one of the main reasons I would love to see the Browns draft Joe Thomas.

I don't know much about the LT's in the draft this year. I just hope the Browns don't blow their draft spot like they did last year by beating the Texans. I really want to see the Browns use 2 of their first 3 picks on the OL and hope that Bentley can make it back next season. I think they would have a hard time passing on AP, but they really need to focus on OL and CB. Anyone think the Falcons would give us Jenkins for Edwards?

If Edwards wasnt a dickhead, possibly. Hes turning into a mini-T.O. If the Browns were good, he would be getting almost as much negative publicity as Owens did in his early years.

Found this online...

As much as I want to see Troy play for the Browns, I don't want him to get destroyed every play because the O-line sucks. Also, he wouldn't win anything here and it'd be nice to see Troy have a succesful NFL career.

I hate this argument. Cleveland doesn't have some mystical aura around it that makes everything football-related suck. If we get good players, we'll field a good team. Troy's a good player. He's a better quarterback than what we have. If the Browns get him, he'll make them a better team. He could win here, and it would be nice to see him have a successful NFL career in Cleveland.

Of course, if we get him, I hope it's in the second round after getting either Thomas or Adrian Peterson in the first.

I think that both of these players are very similar in the way they play and their statistics. The only thing that could stop this trade is that because Jenkins is a reliable source for Vick and they have a strong QB-WR friendship.
But if it was proposed, it could get done.

Free Scout.com Mockdraft

Ginn to the Browns at #5.

Not dissing Teddy at all, but if the Brown use what will most likely be the #3 pick on him I will no longer be a Browns fan. Anyone other than AP or a OL and I'm asking to have the Browns logo removed from my teams list. They already have Cribbs to return and Teddy has suspect hands to go along with the rest of their WR's. Now if they would shift him over to CB I might be interested. :p

Honestly I think its a terrible mock draft.

It has Tom Zibiblowme going 25 overall to the Bengals.

I like the Mock Draft where they take Pitcock. I would love to see the Browns get him to play DE/NT, but they won't be able to get into that part of the draft unless they trade a player to move up.

These are picks that make absolutely no sense to me:

6Arizona Cardinals
Paul PoslusznyOLBPenn StateA productive defender.

Are they serious? Poz came on at the end of the year, but he'll be lucky to go in the top-15 and this is a very weak linebacker class. He wont break 4.7 at the combine so he'll drop even farther, I think a team in the 20's will grab him...

13Minnesota Vikings
Jeff SamardzijaWRNotre DameGive Jackson more weapons.

Another product of the ND hype machine. He never shows up in games where the secondary has good speed. He has good hands but cant get seperation or stretch the field.

18Atlanta Falcons
Victor AbiamiriDENotre DameCan't rely on Abraham and need to be more productive off the edge.

What about Kearny and Abraham?

25Cincinnati Bengals
Tom ZbikowskiSNotre DameThis is a tough and reliable player. Is a fighter, legally!

This ranking is because he can continuosly tackle the opponent 7 yards into the end zone and get away with it I guess...

26Dallas Cowboys
Ryan HarrisOGNotre DameCan play more than one position.

Harris over Blalock. Are they serious?
