Official MoC chronicle of behavior thread

Guys, we are missing so much early Clarett!

- Bitching the team out for "lack of effort" in fall practice before his frosh year

- Showing up to his first post game presser with his jersey on backwards so that everyone could read his name

- Claiming in an interview that the "people down there don't love you; they just love you for what you do" referring to Columbus and Ohio State

And amazingly enough, I don't see any mention of the "One and Done?" article that started this whole thing.

As much as I dislike Clarett...wouldn't it be best for the Buckeyes if this guy actually ended up going to the NFL and doing fine? I mean...no matter how much we hate it, he still is a Buckeye and represents tOSU. Nothing can erase his horrible past...but I just hope that his future doesn't keep bringing "The O" down.

Sorry if this was already posted, but with the millions of clarett-related threads and them being updated constantly, its hard to keep up

"Two of the players who were quoted in the magazine article already came out and said they were misquoted by ESPN and never made such accusations about OSU. Marco Cooper was on Columbus radio today saying how ESPN pursued him ever since he was tossed from the team."

ESPN is setting themselves up for a huge collapse. They are the sports leader (if only by sheer volume and the history of good reporting long ago), but they are choosing a very bad time to do this. Had this been the off-season, it could have remained a topic for quite some time. But more importantly, the rights to the BCS Series is up for bids. ESPN/ABC already reported having offered 1/3 less than last time for the deal. If another meganetwork (or perhaps a couple sharing the games) were to offer more, ESPN could lose the BCS deal and really start losing their stranglehold on the sports world.

To be honest, if he were back in the spotlight somewhere and getting all the attention he craves so much, I bet he'd be much more inclined to not focus so much bile our way.

I keep swinging hard on this issue. On one hand I can think some pretty horrible thoughts about things I'd like to see happen to him and/or not go his way. On the other hand, I too can go back and watch recordings from the 2002 season and remember what a rush it was when he took the field and blew through players. On that second angle, I don't hate him so much as pity him for his horrific decisions and wasted opportunity. So on one hand I want to crack his skull, and on the other I just want to knock some sense into him and see him get on track.

Without regard to which I end up with long term, there are two people (Friend and Hackensack or whatever -- the Penn State grad who's missing toes or something) who I feel a lot more hostility towards than Mo. I can write Mo off as an idiot who is bitter and irresponsible. ESPN and the two hacks, I mean, this was nothing but muckraking for the sake of building their own names at our expense. If either one of them didn't wake up tomorrow, I'd probably be happier for it.

Why now? Clarett is last year. This stuff is old news.

Some people, not just Maurice, have an axe to grind.

No way it's a coincidence one of the two writers is a Penn State grad. And besides, this is the same rag that did the "One and Done" article and cover. Where is Adrian Peterson's "One and Done"? He's been MORE vocal in the past about an early pro exit. You won't see one, why? It's Oklahoma, who, like USC, gets a bye on these things for whatever reason. That's not a knock on the Sooners or Trojans, they just don't get attacked the way we do. And I still maintain most of the reason for that is our local culture of parasitic bloodthirsty hostile Ohio media.

I think the Clarett/Williams fiasco probably killed any one and done idea, and Petereson after seeing what happened has better sense than that. You could be right on getting treated diffrently, I didn't think we got that much major national heat till MoC. The other problems where just by line items. But this story is still the journalistic equivilant of trying to do a story on Kobe Bryant's fiasco. It's last year, it's dead, it's over.

Ohio State Football is the most popular institution in the state?

I feel the same way about MoC now that I did when he first started acting like the IDIOT he is. No matter what happens to him when he puts the pads on again (if he does) can be bad enough.

P.S. I sure would like to see his W-2 for all those thousands that he claimed he recieved.

With Clarett, buyer beware

By DAVE BURCHAM Tribune sports editor

WHICHEVER National Football League team decides to draft or sign Maurice Clarett will deserve what it gets.

And that would be Trouble ... with a capital T.
The snake crawled out from underneath his rock this week to strike at whatever ankle his venom could reach. And that would be Tressel ... with a capital T.

Clarett exemplifies all that is wrong with sports in this country. His hands have been held out since junior high school. Unfortunately, there have always been too many people eager to fill them just because he could do special things on the football field.

I've got to admit, nobody can play games ... or people ... like the former Harding star.

Despite all of his amazing accomplishments as a high school athlete, who could argue that Harding's football program has been better off without Clarett? During three varsity seasons in Warren, the Clarett-plus Raiders were 24-9 with one trip to the playoffs. Since his departure following the 2001 season, the Clarett-less Raiders have gone 33-5 with three consecutive playoff appearances and a state runnerup trophy in 2002. Yo do the math.

Many former Warren players have long since taken exception to Clarett's assertion that he put football on the map in Warren, which only shows that he knows less about local sports history than he does about almost anything else. One source close to the man said Clarett made such a claim at a local nightclub a few years ago and spent much of the evening staring up at the ceiling, thanks to a well-placed fist to his jaw.

The man who delivered the punch remains unidentified. However, there are probably dozens of former players from Harding, YSU and OSU who would have liked to have had the honor.

Clarett has never had much loyalty to anything or anyone in his life with the possible exception of his mother. Maurice remains the apple of her eye, which only makes one question why her vision could be so clouded.

One who was privy to the locker room at OSU told me that Clarett was like "a cancer'' during his time there and most players wanted nothing to do with him. He was aloof and devisive during his days at Harding.

Clarett's latest claim is that he got money for doing nothing. But I wonder if that hasn't always been the case. Has he ever had a job? Did he ever do his own school work even when he was an honor student at Harding? We know he didn't do much at OSU. He previously charged that tutors were doing work and taking tests for him.

Apparently Clarett has been getting preferential treatment all along. He admitted to taking gifts from Warren businessman Bobby Dellimuti, whose life was nearly ruined because of his connection to the athlete.

I'm not saying that Jim Tressel is innocent of any wrong doing, I'm just saying that based on their track records, who would you believe?

Warren's Vince Peterson, who played for Tressel at YSU where he was a co-captain, expressed disappointment that such a charge would be leveled at his former coach.

"I've talked with several of his former players and everybody is feeling the same way about it. Nobody believes any of it.''

Peterson said he didn't put any stock into the accusations made by Clarett. "The only person his remarks are going to hurt is Maurice.

"Coach Tressel's integrity is going to hold up,'' said Peterson.

Tressel will be held accountable for his actions. I just hope the same holds true for Clarett.

I hope he does end up in the NFL. Because I want him to flop. The punk bitch will get hurt so fast, so severely, and so often, and I'll sit back and laugh. I take serious issue with your "...he still is a Buckeye and represents tOSU." No, he is definitely not a Buckeye. That bridge is burned. He was never truly a Buckeye, and he definitely is not now. And I don't think there is anyone in the country that feels he really represents our university. Fuck him.

he still is a Buckeye and represents tOSU.
No he is not. I agree with FKA 100%.

clarett is not a Buckeye- he was, he had the chance to be a great Buckeye, but he gave that up. He does not represent us, either. clarett stands only for himself, or anything that will benefit him.

You want to know what a Buckeye is? Eddie George. Archie Griffin. Chris Spielman. Mike Doss. Mike Vrabel. Craig Krenzel. Kory Stringer. Orlando Pace. The list goes on, but one name it does not include is maurice clarett.

I can't stress this enough- he is not a Buckeye.
