DE Zach Harrison (All B1G, Atlanta Falcons)

Zach would be the icing on top of the cake. There are some real quality people in this class and Zach is one of them. Just a real humble and solid guy. And the talent is off the charts.

He seems like a quality young man with a bright future and a tough decision ahead of him. He’s a project who, with the right coaching and work ethic, will be wrecking left tackles by year 2.

That said, if he goes to Michigan, we’ll all be looking to see him go 0-3 or 0-4.

Heh. And the glowing praise is back

I never left you, Zach. Can I get me one of them shirts?
Gotta love how fans flip sides when its convenient lol. A few pages ago you would've thought this kid was some average bum who wasn't even that good and wouldn't pan out, now all of the sudden hes starting to lean back(though he probably never was a scUM lean) to osu, and hes so good again... smh

He has a lot of work to do to reach his potential no matter where he goes, because right now he is an elite athlete who doesn’t dominate on the field the way he should.

If he chooses Ohio State I think he is much more likely to reach his potential, which is elite. If he chooses UM, that is less likely... see: Peppers and Gary. UMs two best recruits being described as raw and nowhere near their potential by NFL scouts is a humorous slam of UM’s development of players... so basically you waste three years at UM and are the same exact player you were in HS.

For Harrison, I believe @jwinslow describes it as having a low floor (especially compared to other 5-star recruits) but a ceiling that is as high as it gets... but a lot of work to get there.

Obviously some people aren’t very subtle about being swayed by his likely destination, but it really isn’t that hard to be consistent with the evaluation here.

Edit: oh, and another thing- being drawn to Michigan in the first place is a bit of a red flag regarding work ethic, in my opinion. A country club culture of expected greatness without the work is the biggest thing holding their program back. It prevents their teams from being elite and it prevents their players from developing.

If he chooses Ohio State that is a smart decision, but Harrison will really need to buy in to the Marotti program.

Totally agree. People need to wait until these guys are signed, or at least publicly and firmly committed, before applying the unquestionably correct Buckeyes-Rule-Wolverines-Drool standard.
Well... I'm still of the opinion we landed our must get last week. Still of the opinion that as it was just said the floor for Zach is really low. He will need to really throw in the time to the weight room because he reallt needs an extra 30 pounds.

That said the potential was always there and of course I'd rather him be here just in case he reaches that potential. Which he probably will at least at some point.

He reminds me of Holmes or Taco Charleton... needs a year to put on weight but will be good/great once he does.

You're applying the standard incorrectly. Taco Charlatan drools.

Note, sometimes autocorrect is wise, as evidenced by the last sentence.

Terrific student athlete, and drawn to a school like Michigan because of that focus outside of the gridiron.

Unbelievable potential.

Lots of work to do. OSU fans need to be patient, particularly after being spoiled by arguably the highest two floors in a recruit that OSU has had (at least in a very long time). Oh, and those two guys played the position and had a very similar ceiling to Harrison.

None of them can run like this though. What he can become in time is remarkable. He had the 2nd best 200m time in Ohio in sneakers. His 100m time was a smidge slower than Parris Campbell. (not that anyone would confuse the two in agility/quickness)

I used to go to that school 3-10 times a year. Where was this adoration of the shirt back then?

Very very few DEs on the planet with his speed. I know he will put on some weight, will that slow him a step, probably not since he will be getting older bigger and stronger too. Can't wait to see him coming off the edge. I can easily see him in the rushmen package next year as a true frosh.

I know we have Coop and Chase, but Coop could slide down and Zach come in on 3rd and long and wreck olines. He will be ready to do that next year with the help of LJ Sr.

Totally disagree with him looking at scUM due to the country club atmosphere. You're looking at this too much like a fan, and not like what he has been stating as a recruit. He is a STUDENT first, and athlete second. That's why scUM intrigued him, the degree after football, or if football doesnt pan out. Makes sense on his end, especially since he didn't seem to grow up an OH kid dreaming of playing at OSU. Reminds me of Jowon Briggs down here in cincinnati. Many people lost their minds that he hardly considered osu, and instead committed to play at UVA. Until you realize that the kid is a book worm who uses football to reach his dreams academically. Maybe Zach is the same, and if he makes the nfl that's cool, but is more enamored with real life Wednesday and getting to the career path he wants

How does pointing out that he views himself as a student first and an athlete second do anything but reinforce the concern about him being committed to reaching his full potential as a football player?

I get that working to be a first round draft pick might not be the most important thing to him, and that in the grand scheme of life having other priorities is fine - more power to him.

But again, isn’t that exactly the concern people are expressing regarding his future as a football player?
