Welcome to the Buckeye family Will Jr. I am sure your dad is looking down with a smile.

That makes me smile too while we are at it, absolute tragedy but something like this makes you feel like things came back full circle in a good way. Really hope Jr balls out in Columbus and am happy to have him in the fold.

In a real way though - Will is one of the earliest Buckeyes I can remember really really counting on with that blind hope that a kid has.

During a needed stop on defense I'd always say something like 'don't worry Will Smith is going to do it!' whenever I was nervous about a game.

I always paid more attention to defense because that's where I thought I was going to play, so my favorite buckeyes went something like Winfield, Doss, Allen, Smith, Hawk. And then Troy Smith showed up and changed everything about my perception of what offense could be at Ohio State.

But anyway I would love nothing more than Will's kid to make tOSU his own like his dad did in his own way

Love this kid's moxie. Doesn't have to, simply just wants to, get all the learning he can get. Probably better than early entry.....Let's see how many places he jumps after this year's HS season, as he puts college moves on these HS kids. Way too early, but signs point to him having a good Ahia State career. Here's hoping he proves out as well as his poppa. Legacies are great. Go Bucks!

The fact that he keeps returning to OSU camps speaks loudly! You can't help but root for a kid willing to put in so much work to get better. Especially in the face of incredible pressure being the namesake of an OSU legend.

WILL SMITH JR. ALREADY SEEING PAYOFF FROM SUMMER WORK WITH LARRY JOHNSON, FOCUSED ON TEAM IN FINAL HIGH SCHOOL SEASON

After attending all six of Ohio State’s big man camps at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center this summer to get in as much work as he could with Larry Johnson, Will Smith Jr. is already seeing the payoff one game into his senior season at Dublin Coffman High School.

“Definitely, definitely, definitely,” Smith said after Dublin Coffman’s season-opening 14-7 win over St. John’s Jesuit. “I feel like I've learned so much, it's helped me so much from last season to this season.”

Asked specifically how going through drills with Johnson has helped him become a better defensive lineman, Smith says he thinks his lateral quickness and bend have improved. Coupling that with the size and strength he added this offseason, Smith believes his game has taken a big step forward since last season.

“I feel like I got a lot stronger and bigger this year,” Smith, who was 240 pounds last year but now weighs 265 pounds, told Eleven Warriors. “I think I'm faster than I was last year with more weight. So I feel like that’s really good.”
