Of course Fickell's departure for Cincinnati created some uncertainty surrounding Gant's recruitment, but he wasn't too concerned when it came to new linebackers coach Bill Davis.

“Great guy and [he] seems like an outstanding coach," Gant said, adding he wasn't worried about Davis' lack of experience at the college level. "I think all his NFL experience outweighs it."

Gant will announce his college decision on May 16, his birthday.

Not getting a warm and fuzzy feeling here but will do some digging. The only consolation is options abound for OSU at LB if Gant goes elsewhere. Not saying I will be happy about that but it's just a reality. OSU is going to continue to recruit Gaoteote, although I think he sticks with USC as of now. Payton Wilson, Teradja Mitchell, Adrian Jackson, Michael Harris, Solomon Tuliaupupu, etc. are all guys that have expressed a lot of interest in OSU. And you've also got Xavier Peters and Chris Oats in-state as well. Gant brings a little something different to the table than almost every one of those players so I still would really like to see OSU land him.

Does the fact that Loy was the one with the top-5 breakdown story factor into your lack of the warm and fuzzies?
