Jackson "L" Carman (OL Cincinnati Bengals)

This is going to be unpopular and I hope the mods don't ban me.
But some of the best wins in recruiting are the ones you don't get. I'm just not a fan of a lot of things I've seen and hear on this one.

I've followed recruiting long enough to know not to place too much emphasis on any one recruit. We've lost out on guys like Prescott Burgess, Ben Martin, Jordan Hicks, and Kyle Kalis, all of whom I think were the top recruit in the state their senior years. And none of them lived up to the hype.

Having said that, we need to recruit well at offensive tackle this year. And it just so happens that the best tackle in the country is in our state. So he represents our best chance to hit a home run at that position this year. He's not the only chance and he wouldn't be enough on his own to address the tackle position, but it would be quite ideal to land him.

This pretty much sums it up if you ask me.

Two other points:
a. It is good to hear these rumblings now rather than a month or two before NSD '18.
b. This staff has done an extraordinary job, especially in the last few cycles, of not putting all their eggs in one basket.

Not that I find your post disrespectful to the recruit at all, but I think you have been here long enough that we know your Cincy ties and that you wouldn't say that out of the blue with no information to support it. A lot of times it is tough for the recruitniks to account for that factor without the local/inside knowledge...all I can see is insanely massive, athletic tackle that stepped it up big time on his junior film and played nasty like we want our OL to. However, I have no knowledge of any potential off the field issues but I am sure the staff will do their due diligence, so I just have to trust them. Prior to UFM coming here, I always had the opinion that he would take any talented player at Florida regardless of off the field issues. Since he came to OSU, I think he has more than proven me wrong on that point and I have been pleasantly surprised with his emphasis on character of our recruits, so I definitely trust him.

As to Jackson, I find it HIGHLY unlikely that he lands anywhere but Columbus...there is plenty of time left but with the enormous lead we have held all along, I find it hard to believe Clemson made up all that ground over one weekend. I would tend to agree this seems to be more of a ploy to make his recruitment interesting, but we shall see.

No clue if this is the case. But he may just want to be sure no one takes him for granted. These are young guys with young egos.

Buckeye Nation will continue to show love and he will be a Buckeye IMO.

That's what I think. He's always given me the impression he enjoys the attention that comes with being a top recruit, which is why I never anticipated him committing early. By saying tOSU is his clear leader and committing at a spring game, nearly all of that attention disappears. I'm sure he did love his Clemson visit, but my gut says he still ends up here.

Booooo!!

Ok, Mr Colerain! You guys kick Fairfield around every damn year. Not since famed cocaine dealer Earl Haynes suited up for the Indians has Fairfield beat Colerain on the gridiron (I think)!! BUT APPARENTLY THAT ISN'T ENOUGH ANYMORE!!!

I absolutely love when Cincinnati kids (GMC, GCL, smaller schools) become Buckeyes.
But I also hate it when kids burn out for various reasons. (Clifford from Colerain from constant pot usage. Moeller from Colerain due to injuries and one drunken fool in a restaurant).
I'm not sure why you think my opinion is based on him being from Fairfield. I meant no disrespect to coach Kraus or the FF program.
Haynes was a phenomenal player to watch, btw.
