I apologize.

I got the wrong idea from the thread topics. It looked like it was just a listing of recent commits, not limited to OSU. I thought, since Zach was a pretty high profile Ohio player, some might be interested in his decision.

My mistake.

Sorry.

Sorry.

For future reference, all prospects are supposed to have interest in Ohio State and/or vice versa. All the commits to other schools in this forum have met this criteria.

Zach, however, did not list Ohio State as a considered school and as far as our recruiting folks here knew Ohio State wasn't recruiting him either. If there were interest either way, trust me, someone would've started a thread on him a long time ago...

Buckeye site first for sure, but personally I don't mind Ohio kids getting some publicity.

Being from the valley myself, I've been following Zach over the past few years...he has "it."

Best of luck in Cincinnati.

College football notebook: Zach Collaros might keep Bearcats? starting job; Jahvid Best out of hospital
From Wire Reports
Published: November 9, 2009

When senior quarterback Tony Pike hurt his non-passing arm, Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly said he?d get this job back when he was ready. In the meantime, his sophomore backup got to run one of the nation?s most potent offenses.

Collaros threw for 480 yards ? the second-best passing total in school history ? and set a school record for total offense in a 47-45 victory over Connecticut on Saturday night.

Collaros has taken the offense to new levels, growing week by week. His performance against UConn was the best yet.

He went 29-of-37 for 480 yards and a TD, trailing only Greg Cook?s 554-yard passing game on the school record list. Collaros also ran for 75 yards and a pair of touchdowns, setting a school record with his combined 555 yards.

Now, the big question: Which quarterback gets to take Cincinnati the rest of the way?

Cincinnati quarterback Collaros ordered to appear in court

Cincinnati quarterback Collaros ordered to appear in court | cincinnati.com | Cincinnati.Com

Zach Collaros has helped thrust the University of Cincinnati football team into the national championship picture, but it?s what he didn?t do that will have the sophomore quarterback before a judge Thursday.

Collaros was cited May 15 for presenting a fake ID ? a Tennessee driver?s license ? as he tried to enter the Holy Grail, a Corryville bar. Collaros turned 21 in August.
Collaros was assigned a public defender lawyer and had the case continued several times, once because, his attorney wrote in court documents, Collaros was attending UC?s football training camp.
He admitted Oct. 5 to the charge of misrepresenting his age to obtain alcohol. Hamilton County Municipal Court Judge Bernie Bouchard allowed Collaros to enter a diversion program.
That meant Collaros had to sign a statement of guilt, pay a $200 fine, attend an eight-hour course outlining the negatives of underage drinking, and the case would have been erased and sealed.
Instead, Bouchard said Wednesday, Collaros didn?t even contact officials from the diversion program.
Bouchard ordered Collaros to come to court Thursday to explain why he didn?t contact the diversion staff. Bouchard said if Collaros wasn?t notified of his diversion program appointment or there was some other misunderstanding, he would allow that to be rectified. But the charge is the highest-level misdemeanor in Ohio and carries a maximum jail sentence of 180 days.
Neither Collaros nor head coach Brian Kelly could be reached for comment.
All this happened before UC starting quarterback Tony Pike was injured in the Bearcats? Oct. 15 win against the University of South Florida and was replaced by Collaros. Since that time, Collaros has been on national television and his stellar play has helped keep his team unbeaten and in contention for a national championship.
UC is ranked No. 5 in the country.

Collaros grew up a diehard Ohio State fan and dearly wanted to play for the Buckeyes. But no matter how good his numbers were or how many games the Big Red won, Ohio State showed no interest.

"You would always hear rumors that Ohio State is here," Collaros said. "After awhile, it's like, you know, they're probably not here. I would keep playing better and better and better and I wouldn't hear anything."

So Collaros cast his lot with UC, but he hasn't forgotten what it felt like to be ignored by the Buckeyes.

"He was bitterly disappointed," Dean Collaros said. "And he swore that he would never walk into that stadium (at Ohio State) unless he was playing against them."

So a D-III Ohio highschool football POY, born & raised Ohio boy, former "diehard" Buckeye fan, and I assume lifelong college football fan will never see a football game in the 'Shoe', one of the greatest football stadiums in the world (which happens to be just a couple hours from his home town no less)?!?!

Sad.
