2025 OH RB Marquise Davis (Kentucky Verbal)

Only hiccup in Davis's recruitment, per Birm, is that he thinks that Davis wants to be the only RB in his class... If he's adamant on that, then things can get interesting. I'd be for that, if the OSU staff knows for sure that Peoples, Lyles AND SWD will all be coming in as RBs. If SWD is seen more as a HB, or even on defense, than things can get dicey with RB numbers
If that is true, I'm not about it. We need two RBs in this class. Davis is my dude but he doesn't warrant a promise like that imo.

Any recruit who looks at our injury history at RB and wants to be the only RB in the class, isn't seeing things clearly. But, I'm with you. Davis is my #1 guy right now.
Inclusive of that - all RBs should be minimizing rep counts as much as possible the 3 years they're in school. Save the wear and tear for when you're in the league.

That all sounds good to us grown up. And hopefully he has a good grown up in his ear to tell him that. And not someone only looking out for Davis' stats and not the wear and tear and health when he gets to the next level

You are absolutely correct on that, get enough touches for exposure and game film to make the next level, but nothing more. But as @pnuts34 said, try telling that to a talented kid who wants the ball. I was that kid (back in the day) even though better judgment would say I need to come off the field some and take less hits...but if you are a competitor it is tough to make the better business decision sometimes.

But for Davis, he is going to be a pro-level talent and I am sure the staff has mapped this out for him, but all of Henderson, Miyan and Chip will be gone when he comes in. Hayden will be a RS Jr/Sr his frosh year and yeah we have both Peoples and Lyle in '24, but that just looks like a 3-man race after a RS year...one more in '25 means a 4-man race and with Davis' talent, I don't think he needs to worry about it.

Kid is redonkulous. I will double down that he is the the RB of priority for this class...has the gear of a scat-back but is difficult to bring down. If we bring in Peoples, Lyle and SWD on signing day, we may actually be set with only taking Davis in '25.
With how RBs get injured, taking only Davis, regardless of talent is a dangerous proposition, IMO
