Ohio Stadium aka THE Horseshoe (Official Thread)

If the ticket increase is approved for next year, the Athletics Department will start meeting with student groups to determine whether all students should be moved to the north end of the stadium as in years past, or whether extra students should be divided between the south stands and the north end, Jones said.

30,000 students in the closed end of the 'Shoe would be insane.

Having the student section in the South Stands sucks. It does nothing for the gameday atmosphere, unless you're part of the wine & cheese crowd that's enjoying the seats students should be sitting in. Moving Block O and more students back into the closed end would be a definite improvement.

The best thing you would be to have students right behind the visitors' bench, like Scooter said. They would be right on top of them. Plus, students in the closed end would be loud no doubt, but that large sound just travels out of the stadium through the open end. If you put those loud students behind the visitors' bench, that noise bounces off of the other side of the stadium and is virtually amplified. It would make the whole place shake!

On the 50 yard line.........on the field.......I wasnt there that long though:wink2::wink2::wink2::wink2:

In all seriousness I got to be on the field for 4 years, and there is nothing like it. It is so awesome to look up and see everyone going crazy. I get to go back and be on the field for one game for the rest of my life!! Usually the alumni (first) game!!

I thought this probably would fit in this thread best:

ESPN Page 2 - Caple: America's 100 most important sports venues

27 (tie). Ohio Stadium
Location: Columbus, Ohio. Opened: 1922. Capacity: 102,329.
Because there is no greater signature moment in American sports than dotting the "i" in script Ohio at the Horseshoe, where six Heisman Trophy winners, plus track legend Jesse Owens, have run. (And because if we placed it any further lower than Michigan, there would be hell to pay.)
