Ohio Stadium aka THE Horseshoe (Official Thread)

There were some guys in my high school that devised various ways to sneak into the stadium. I participated a couple of times, and I'm pretty sure the statute of limitations has run. They would go down to the stadium late Friday night with one of those portable hydraulic jacks. At one of the gates, I think either 3 or 5, they would spread the first iron bar away from the concrete wall using the jack, just far enough so skinny high school kids could get through. It didn't take much and was hardly noticeable. Then on Saturday morning they would wait until nobody was watching, slip in and melt into the crowd. It was easy enough to get into the seating areas, usually at the top of B deck, and find some unused seats. I did that one time and it was no sweat. The other method was a little more risky and an adrenaline rush. I also did this one one time. A big group of high school kids would wait outside the gate with the oldest and fattest guard. When the time was right, they rushed the gate, climbed over the bars and ran like hell. If the guard was lucky he would catch one guy, and all the others made it. When I did it all of us made it. Another method was one that I never did, but they just told me about it. One of the guys had a brother in the dorms in the stadium. Apparently there was a secret door somewhere in there that led into the field part of the stadium. Somehow the dorm residents found a way to open that door and would charge a small fee to get delinquents into the stadium. Of course none of these would work today, and if you tried you would probably be shot on sight. Those were the days.

The presence of cameras everywhere and society's general loss of a sense of humor and forgiveness when it comes to youthful (and frankly any other) indiscretions has made the world a suckier place.

EDIT: Glad to see the Colorado contingent's on the same page here.

So looking through the twitter feed for this and I saw a lot of the usual and expected "If the shoe is so great why is _ichgan the winingest program?" I decided to do a bit of research to see if the big house truly does have a better track record.

First _ichigan, In the history of their program they have 953 wins with a .729 winning percentage.

The big house was built in 1927. since then they have won 697 with a .704 win percentage.

before that their winning percentage was .800.

Now Ohio State, in the history of the program they have 911 wins with a .727 win percentage.
http://football.stassen.com/cgi-bin...=1869&end=2018&rpct=30&min=5&se=on&by=Win+Pct

The Shoe was built in 1923, since then Ohio State has 732 wins with a winning percentage of .741.
http://football.stassen.com/cgi-bin...=1923&end=2018&rpct=30&min=5&se=on&by=Win+Pct

Before that Ohio State had 179 wins with a .659 winning percentage.
http://football.stassen.com/cgi-bin...=1869&end=1922&rpct=30&min=5&se=on&by=Win+Pct

Conclusion, The Shoe is the secret weapon that has helped drive this soul crushing beast to the greatest hights of college football while the big house is slowly sucking the life out of _ichigan.

AC/DC's Hell's Bells was cool, but with the Day era beginning I advocate for a change...not a drastic one.

We....... are..... not.... Rutgers.

Hells Bells is what OSU is.

However, if we are electing secondary songs I would elect "for those about to rock".

I heard this one song we could use. Something about who got it better or something like that.

Nevermind. I found it.
