Game Thread Ohio State 23, Purdue 7 (final)

Anyone notice that our first kickoff was Andrew Good (who drove it deep into the end zone) and the second kickoff was Trapasso (who also drove it through the end zone)? I didn't pay attention to the kickoffs after those first two. Looks like we have several "weapons" who can really boom the ball deep. Always nice.

My only concern with TB is that I think he might be coming long ball happy. Having said that, if he would have taken the air out of a couple of this long throws I think Hartline and Robiskie would have had TDs. Also without having access to "game film" it is hard to tell if he was passing up guys that were open underneath and just going deep.

My only of the concern with the performance is with Beanie. He is really are only power back and every time he gets hit around the ankles he gets "injured". Maybe JT will sit him down against Kent State and hopefully his ankle will get better or maybe he just needs to suck it up a little.

Yeah, I did notice Trapasso had a lot of leg on the kickoff. After the way he boomed it I was wondering why #15 wasn't out there on the next one.

I noticed this too, I was getting a good laugh out of it, how our kickers were kicking through the endzones in the "heavy air" and Purdues punter couldn't get the ball more than 40 yards downfield.. the Purdue fan next to me didn't apperciate my laugh.

The interceptions are bad, don't get me wrong. If there is a silver lining in them, it is that they are coming on jump balls down field. If you are going to have INTs, those are about the least destructive and least egregious that he could make. I'd much rather have the INTs he threw last night than ones over the middle to linebackers from misreading a zone defense or one to a CB on a short route where the defender jumps in front and takes it back for a TD. Those are the kind of throws he was making earlier in the year, and he was lucky they were ending up as drops.

The team did go away from the short passing game during the game. I don't know enough about what I'm watching to be able to tell if that was a result of playcalling or Boeckman's decision making or what. I hope it was the former and not the latter.

It was probably more of a "try and see" thing by Tressel. Pretorious has had very low kicks. He had a FG blocked because he didn't get the ball up enough, but on kickoffs that equates to outkicking your coverage. It doesn't surprise me that Jimmy Sweatervest is looking at other options.

I love Pretorious, he's a good kicker, but sometimes you want to have other options, especially with Pettrey so questionable.

Agree 100%.

Opponents INT and return ydg ytd: 6 Interceptions for 0 yards.

None have resulted directly in points or flipped field position, simply lost opportunity on offense. Obviously I'd prefer not to have them, but if they have to happen the "Boeckman punt" type of int's are the best.

It seemed like to me that 2 of those INt's could have been caught by Hartline and Robiskie but the Purdue defender did a nice job of wrestleling them away. But any case they were deep enough on the turn-over to be considered punt-like interceptions. No harm done:osu3::osu3:

The interception of the Hartline intended pass was a heck of a play!
The other 2 should not have been thrown.
Purdue was rotating towards Robo, and Todd the Mad Bomber, should have just thrown it away!
But, Todd threw some beautiful passes last night!
The TD pass to Small was a thing of beauty. I would have liked to seen Small get more looks.
Todd will continue to get better with each snap.
