Game Thread Ohio State 23, Purdue 7 (final)

This is the type of game that can be scary. On the road, at night, against a ranked and offensively explosive team.

At the same time, this is a game the Bucks shouldn't have any trouble winning as long as they avoid mistakes. If Ohio State wins the turnover battle, we should be sitting pretty at the end of this one.

Watching MNF, the ad for Saturday Night College Football featured this game. I'm hoping that means it will be on for a majority of the country.
Yeah I was hoping that too...
Hopefully they don't pull a Cal-Oregon and hype up a game like mad and not show it to anyone...
NOBODY CARES ABOUT ND, THEY'RE TERRIBLE. Show us some good teams!!

So I go to set up my DVR to record The Game and I go ahead to Saturday to see that Comcast has changed the game on at that time to UCLA Notre Dame!!! Awesome.

Rumblings from the family of networks are saying that this will change when the coverage maps come out on Thursday. If not, I believe Comcast charges around $20 for one day of Gameplan. Stay tuned! :wink2:

Rumor has it they're doing a "Black out" (God, I tire of these [insert color] outs) too. Anyway, it's hard to know much about Purdue's offense, considering that they've gone against a D-Iaa and the number 109, 116 and 117 Ds in the land. Notre Dame held them to about 360 (Notre Dame's something like 52 overall D). At the same time, as great as Ohio State's D has been, it's not like they've gone up against the best Os in the land. Minnesota was probably the best, statistically, at moving the ball. I guess, all things being equal, Ohio State's D was better against Minny, than Purdue was against ND... but, of course, that really doesn't mean anything in reality. Just a way of conceptualizing the match-up.

Purdue's D, on the other hand, isn't very good. The last time OSU played Purdue, the D was serviceable, and the years prior was actually pretty good. Now? If it wasn't for Minnesota, Purdue's pass D would be worst in the Big Ten and their Run D is about the same as Minnys. I would think Ohio State perceives this game as "bigger" than the Minn. game (afterall, Purdue is 5 - 0, Minn. was 1 - 3) and thus might come out with more fire than we saw on Saturday. (To be clear, I'm not saying the O sucked against Minny, just that they didn't seem to be playing with much passion)

Yeah but what if he did? I mean, this year was supposed to be a "rebuilding" or gain experience year so why not use it to get everyone game experience for next year when we could make a big push for the NC.
I can Imagine it but why leave out Dane?

If I could comment on this late. Dane, Ray, Robo, Brian, Devon, Taurian, and Insaine in the rotation means fresh legs in every game. Don't forget the TE's who have been adding to the offensive game plan. I don't recall this much WR/pass catching depth last year and maybe this is what JT is trying to develop. Last year we had Teddy, Brian and Gonzo; when Teddy went down in the Florida game we lost that deep threat, speed, and the ability to open things up. Why not spread it around and develop a corp of WRs in '07. These guys are out there because they can get the job done and as a corp of WR's we're stronger and a greater threat. We need all of them to win games although Robo is a one man scoring machine. Dane is a newbie learning the college game and getting some reps. He's "going to be a good player", I'd rather see him in the mix than warming the pines. This is Wide Receiver U and they're majoring in touchdowns and preparing for another NC .

What will '08 bring with Jake Stoneburner?

Boeckman missed at least three wide-open bombs for TDs...he was nowhere near his usual accurate self on the deep throws. If he turns that back around Saturday, look out...
