After we lost to Purdue I thought this season was unsalvagable but after winning on the road and dominating Penn State and beating Iowa is looks like not all is lost.

Ohio State vs Iowa was a great game, I thought we had it put away and to Iowa's credit they rallied but finally Ohio State stepped up in crunchtime and put away Iowa after destroying them on defense on their only OT possesion.

I knew there was no way we'd let two rookie QB's win in the shoe in one season. It isn't gonna happen!

Now it's time to beat SCum we already got our trip to the rosebowl and a bowl game. Let's just kick their ass because they're that team up north.

[censored] Michigan and their arrogant jackass fans. Sidenote half the time I ask people wearing Michigan shirts or hoodies I say do you actully like Michigan and they say "not really I just have the shirt" What the hell? Michigan = bandwagon fans they probably bought those shirts in 2006 before we kicked their ass.

Just ignore the guy. I think he's being an idiot on purpose. There isn't a true Buckeye fan that doesn't know the Big Ten/Rose Bowl tie-in. This thread should be about Iowa and Ohio State, not about an idiot poster...

So on that note, I'm hoping to get to skull session tomorrow. I expect it to be rockin!!! After that's over i'm heading straight to the stadium. I either want to watch the band come into the rotunda, or watch the team take the field to warm up. Both are awesome. I love watching the team enter to hells bells, but I also enjoy watching the band enter the stadium, and they usually happen at the same time. What to do??? Any ideas?

I'm so excited for this game tomorrow. Everything is riding on this game. When was the last time that we were playing a game in The Shoe that we knew if we won we would go to the Rose Bowl? In '07 we thought we were going to the Rose Bowl, but that was at Michigan anyway. But we knew we still had an outside shot at the NCG. This year there is no outside shot. In '06 we knew we were going to the NCG and that the loser of the game was going to the Rose Bowl (That has to be the only game in Ohio Stadium history where whoever LOST was going to the Rose Bowl). In '02 again we were playing for the NCG, not the Rose Bowl. In '96 we clinched on the road at Indiana. 1994 - 1991 no. In 1990 we would have gone had we beaten Michigan, but we needed help from Iowa...they did lose, but we didn't know for certain going into The Game. 89-87 not good years. 1986...there it is. 1986 6-1 Michigan played 7-0 Ohio State at Ohio State. If my thought process is correct, that is the last time Ohio State played a game at home knowing that if they won they were going to the Rose Bowl. The 1986 game was also like this years game in that both teams clinched the Rose Bowl if they won. A tie would have sent Ohio State to the Rose Bowl. Ohio State lost 26-24. None of the players on this team were even born yet win this happened.

In 1990, if tOSU had won The Game, they would have had an outright title. TSUN's victory caused a 4-way tie that year with Illinois, Iowa, and MSU.

Also, in 1986, Devin Barclay was as old as how many points he scored in overtime. And if you add his jersey number to that you get his current age. :tongue2:

There are also several other Buckeyes who were born in '86, plus Joe Bauserman who was born in '85.

no, penalties cant be reviewed, but i wish it could

Some penalties are reviewable - such as an illegal forward pass (late in TSUN game against Purdue), 12 men on the field.

But it is correct that an offsides penalty is not reviewable.

THE FIVE MOST IMPORTANT OVERTIME THRILLERS IN OHIO STATE FOOTBALL HISTORY

2009: NO. 11 OHIO STATE 27, NO. 10 IOWA 24
The first half of the 2009 season didn't go exactly as planned as Ohio State lost to No. 3 USC at home in September before falling to an unranked Purdue squad, 26-18, in Ross-Ade Stadium in mid-October.

Despite those setbacks, Ohio State (No. 11, 8-2) still entered its mid-November clash against No. 10 Iowa (9-1) with a Rose Bowl bid on the line.

A 17-point favorite, the Buckeyes struggled to generate offense, particularly in the downfield passing game, as Terrelle Pryor completed 14-of-17 throws for just 93 yards.

Luckily for Ohio State, the Hawkeyes were forced to give James Vandenberg his first collegiate start with Ricky Stanzi on the shelf.

Vandenberg turned in a gritty performance, tossing two touchdowns but the last of his three interceptions occurred in the first overtime, at the hands of Ohio State defensive back Anderson Russell.

With Ohio State needing just a field goal to win, that was Jim Tressel's music.

The senator ordered three straight runs up the gut, gaining two yards, before summoning 26-year old Devin Barclay to attempt a 39-yard field goal on senior day.

Barclay calmly drilled the kick, giving the Buckeyes a 27-24 win and setting off a wild celebration in the Shoe.

Ohio State would go on to beat Michigan the following week (21-10) before downing No. 7 Oregon in the Granddaddy of them All, 26-17.

Tressel's squad finished the season with an 11-2 mark, a Big Ten title and a No. 5 national ranking.
