I am beginning to wonder if JT is not starting to think about scoring margin this year.

I think he's forced to think about that this year, since the Big 10 is perceived as being weak this year. If you're playing in a conference that is perceived as weak, then you need to blow out your opposition if you want to get some love from the voters and earn a good bowl game, and possibly get back to the championship game.

For the second game this season, he has passed up about a 40+ field-goal attempt and went for the first down. In prior years, he has only kicked a field goal in those types of situations. In addition, RP needs the practice on these types of attempts in game situations.

4th down plays also provide an opportunity for younger/untested players to perform in the clutch. I could see him calling these types of plays to simply give his players a chance to make plays in a scenario that they might encounter in the future, where the team will need to convert a play on 4th down to keep a key drive alive.

We kind of sputtered on offense in the second half but with the lead we had, not sure if it was b/c of Tressel sitting on the lead, which I don't blame, or just slight ineffectiveness?

i did notice a new wrinkle in the silver package though. we were running it from the gun unlike the previous two weeks, and we were putting the second TE in motion (should i call it an H-back? someone fill me in)...

but anyway, this week it looked like this:

I haven't watched my recording of the game yet, but I noticed Whaley going in motion from an alignment like that - and I called him an H-back when I saw that.

Look for the Minnesota football team, under new coach Tim Brewster, to switch from gold to maroon pants for road games this year, and to wear gold pants with gold jerseys for the Ohio State game Sept. 29 at the Metrodome.

Brian Robiskie has been named the Offensive Player of the Week while linebacker Marcus Freeman picked up the accolades as this week's Defensive Player of the Week. Punter A. J. Trapasso was recognized as the Special Teams Player of the Week. ​

The Attack Force Player of the Week award went to James Laurinaitis while Jim Cordle was got the Jim Parker Offensive Lineman of the Week award.​

I wasn't surprised. At least, I wasn't surprised when I saw the uniforms. I was surprised that anyone would want to do something so gross. But I read it in this thread sometime last week.

Remember, though, that not everyone is as cool as I am. Not everyone read every post in this thread.

On a scale from 1 to 10 (1 being Oregon's uniforms, and 10 being Ohio State's), I'd give Minnesota's a 2.2. I've seen worse uniforms. Syracuse, and Oregon's, and who was it that looked like they were wearing orange bras? Was that Oregon State or Oklahoma State? And at least they weren't wearing the Philadelphia Eagles puke-blue helmets. And Purdue's gold home uniforms a few years ago were worse - I could actually tell which team was which on Saturday.

I actually thought Minny's uniforms were pretty neat...nowhere near as sickening as Syracuse's all-orange abortions and nowhere near as gaudy as Oregon's.
