Longtime Buckeye commit Shaun Wade penciled in his visit dates for Ohio State

Shaun Wade (Jacksonville, FL / Trinity Christian Academy) has been committed to Ohio State for the majority of his recruiting process. He committed to the Buckeyes in January of 2015 but that hasn't stopped him from seeing what other top programs have to offer.

Wade made it known soon after his commitment that he still wanted to see what other schools had to offer – and to reaffirm he makes the best decision. Bill Kurelic of 247Sports spoke with the five-star CB's father on Monday and he confirmed his son's official visit dates.

Wade's father said his son will be visiting Ohio State the weekend of Oct. 8 and will also visit Notre Dame and Michigan. His father also mentioned he wants his son to take advantage of the two remaining official visits allocated to Wade. Kurelic listed Alabama, Florida, USC and Florida State as the most likely candidates if he is able to do so.

The five-star CB is one of the top-ranked commits of Urban Meyer's tremendous 2017 recruiting class and it is essential they keep him. It appears Meyer and the Buckeyes will get an additional chance to persuade Wade, as Kurelic confirmed the elite prospect will also take an unofficial visit to Ohio State on Nov. 26, when Buckeyes arch-rival Michigan comes to Columbus.

Recent Buckeye QB commit earns 5th star

Emory Jones (Franklin, GA / Heard County) is the newest Buckeye pledge and is already the second commitment Urban Meyer has for his 2018 class, joining RB Brian Snead (Seffner, FL / Armwood). Many have lauded Jones' talents and on Monday, Rivals.com awarded him a fifth star in their updated Rivals100 for the 2018 class.

The now five-star QB is also listed as the No. 5 overall player of the entire class in the state of Georgia. Jones will be joining a crowded and talented group of QB's Ohio State has accumulated the last few years. While this year's team has two viable back up QB's in Joe Burrow and Dwayne Haskins. Urban Meyer has also been able accrue two more QB commits for the 2017 class in four-star Tate Martell (Las Vegas, NV Bishop Gorman) and three-star Danny Clark (Akron, OH / Archbishop Hoban). Despite the talented group, many have claimed Jones has the talent to be the best of the them all.

There were also multiple Buckeye 2018 recruiting targets joining Jones in the new Rivals100. Five-star DE Xavier Thomas (Florence, SC / Wilson) was listed at No. 3 overall and four-star Columbus native Jaelen Gill (Westerville, OH / Westerville South) was ranked at No. 28. Another in-state prospect, four-star WR L'Christian (Blue) Smith (Dayton, OH / Wayne,) was listed at No. 33 and right behind him was four-star CB Houston Griffith (Bradenton, FL / IMG Academy) at No. 34.

Rounding out the list was four-star S Jaiden Woodbey (Upland, CA / St. John Bosco) who is currently teammates with 2017 Buckeye commit and a five-star OG, Wyatt Davis. Davis has mentioned he is heavily recruiting Woodbey to join him at Ohio State.
