Thanks. I saw all the frosh mentioned but the one guy I hadn't heard about before today that made his Buckeye debut is walk-on Craig Cataline. I don't see a thread on him but sounds like a great story as he walked on after serving in the Navy. Cool.
Yup he was out there a handful of times, none bigger than helping to separate the Miami punter from the football.

I'm 95% positive that he started with it

Love what this offense has the potential to do as they gain confidence and experience.

300 yards in the second quarter today.

Lots of room for improvement and they turned in a performance that hung 56 on a team.

Also, Wisconsin squeaks by Northern Iowa, UF squeaks by BGSU, Iowa squeaks by UNI, YSU is beating Pitt right now, OU beats PSU. What a day.

This is why I really think this team can be great this year. Wisconsin is a one trick offense (as is MSU) with only a good running back but not much balance as far as throwing the ball.

I have to believe that the defense will play better starting next week just due to playing more traditional teams. Teams that throw the ball 50+ times a game is tough for any defense and I really think they'll get on track starting next week.

Weak point in the game was obviously the secondary. I thought for sure they would look stronger than they did. If it were going against better receivers, there would had been more points on the board for Miami.

Strong point in the game was the ability to use the entire field. Not being forced to keep plays up the middle and spread the offense really helped the team point points up.

There was definitely a few mix ups in the secondary. I thought they had to cover too long at times. I also expected the D line to get more QB pressure. Either way, I don't think either unit is far off from being really good, dare I say dominant. Only the first game, and the competition was not necessarily top notch, but 2012 is lookimg like a fun year.

The defensive line was fine IMO. They got consistent pressure all day with tons of near sacks (lots of instances of having hands on him even) but just a good job by their QB to get rid of the ball quick. Fickell also was quoted after the game talking about giving orders to be more containing as a defensive line rather than attacking. Spence/Washington/Williams/Simon alll have good pressure on the QB.

I do agree though that the three busted plays in the secondary has to be corrected. Obvious miscommunication on all three.

I don't think the D Line played bad. I just had really high expectations. I expected to see Simon explode through the line (literally, with flames, percussion, etc.) on the first play and then reach into the QB's chest cavity and pull out his still beating heart. What Hankins was expected to do on the second play is unspeakable.

That was my thought late in the game: "We'll see you on the ice, a-holes." It's never a good sign when, on college football's opening Saturday, I immediately think of college hockey.

As for the game, I thought it was bad when OSU was up 34-0 back in 2005 before Miami scored two meaningless touchdowns. Christ, this was bad.

Thank you, Fredo. Your inane blathering has completed my Saturday.

I've been to games that were hotter temperature-wise but the humidity was brutal yesterday. I've never been that uncomfortable at a a game before. I think the rest of the crowd felt the same way because it was pretty lame. I understand it was Fredo but get off your ass and cheer a little, eh? The first quarter was pretty terrible and I was about to press the panic button but they snapped out of it. Really fun game to watch, especially the offense. I hope Braxton is OK but Kenny didn't look too bad out there. Braxton needs to get better at passing but he's the best running QB we've ever had. Our running backs looked damn good (Rod Smith seems quicker than I remember) but our receivers need a lot of work. I can't really judge the defensive line as this sort of offense negates the pass rush a bit. Run defense is typically great but for shits sake the pass defense has to get much better. Coombs is going to have to crack down on the DBs this week because UCF is gonne make us pay big-time for busted coverages. Line backers looked OK with Sabino and Shazier laying the lumber a few times but didn't really stand out to me. Thank God football is back.

I really enjoyed the game, very nice way to start the year! My favorite part of the game was the possession with 2 minutes left before halftime. I loved the series of play calls there, loved the decision to go for the TD and I really don't care we didn't score there. I love, love, love the BALLS to go for it right there.

Braxton, wow, what a game! Just wow!

Thank you Devin Smith for making one of the greatest catches I've ever seen. I lack the ability to describe how amazing that catch was. I can just say. . . DAMN!!!
