A great comeback and Buckeye win was marred for me by some Bp'ers who were more depressing than the game during the first half. I hope they learned a lesson.
Fwiw my player of the game award goes to them all for the display of mental toughness and character they showed in gutting it out and winning like Buckeyes in the Woody Hayes tradition.

Go BUCKEYES!!

We were spoiled this past season in football.
How are people going to react to close, low scoring games, again?

I realize this is a weird place to insert this but,

I'll be fine with that, because that means all is right with the world. As long as the coaching staff is preparing the players and coming up with good game plans, I could care less about margin of victory. And that goes for the basketball team also. I just hope that people can have a little faith. Yeah, January 8th was hard on a lot of us, myself included. I think that is because a Buckeye tends to have a little more invested, emotionally, into our teams than do fans of most other teams. It was one game. Obviously, some people are still dwelling on it and it is spilling over into basketball season now. I had to quit reading this thread last night for all of the negative defeatist tripe that was being vomited on to the pages here. Shameful. It sucked watching us get our asses handed to us by Florida. Lets not forget Florida was a pretty good team, and probably a little underrated. You don't suck your way into the NC game. If you still think that Florida didn't deserve to be there, then you're fucking delusional. It sucked watching us get out asses handed to us in the first half last night too. It was Friggin' AWESOME watching our Bucks pull out a bad ass come from behind victory though. Top five Buckeye moment EVER for me. Glad I didn't puss out and go to bed.

I feel like some people are missing the greater picture of what this basketball team represents. We went for weeks as a fan base kind of struggling with our identity after the NC game. Our basketball team is helping us find that again. They are the salve that will help to heal the wounds. Obviously, those people that gave up last night can't see that, nor will they be able to reap the benefits of being loyal. Vindication, retribution, the pain can be put to rest. The basketball Bucks have done everything that has been asked of them. The reality is, they are the #1 team in the country, on a 20 game win streak, they are the Big Ten and Big Ten Tourney Champs, they are playing with heart and fire when they need to, making adjustments and continuing on. What more do you people want? If this team doesn't win another game, I will be as proud as I have ever been of Ohio State athletics as a whole, and ESPECIALLY of the Bball team. What they are doing is something special. Maybe it wouldn't be if we were Duke or N. Carolina, or even Indiana, but this should be special for all of us because you can bet your ass that it is special for these kids and the coaching staff.

Having said all that, I feel that they are finally playing with something to prove at times. It is like they are only just a step away from finding their groove. I will say this now. If they play a whole game the way that they played the 2nd half last night, they are unbeatable. Thats right, you heard me correctly. They CAN be the best team in the country. Remember, Matta's goal, the teams goal is to win the Tournament. Something tells me they haven't lost sight of that and something tells me Matta won't let them forget. It seems to me that Matta "gets it" too.

Great post, I agree.....with one exception. Nebraska sucked it's way into the NC game against Miami....and Oklahoma did the same against USC.

Greenies for you.

There was a photo posted on here earlier that showed the lights on the backboard were on before Smith let go of the last shot. After watching the play again in slo-mo on my HDDVR, the shot would have counted. The lights and the clock were not in sync. He let go of it in between .1 and .2 seconds. The lights on the backboard did go off at .2. Another interesting note on the clock is that when Smith rebounded Conley's miss, the clock did not start for right around .5 seconds. I don't know if they would have looked at that as well if that last shot went in, but regardless, the shot should not have counted.

The Xavier game had me more worried than this game. I was disappointed at how the Bucks played in the first half, but not all that worried. There was still a half to play and I've seen this team show it can elevate its game when needed down the stretch this year. When they came out in the second half, played defense and quit trying to get back in the game 3 points at a time there was still lots of time left. 5 minutes into the second half there was no question left in my mind that the Bucks would win. Tenn was in foul trouble, the good guys were driving to the basket (god Conley's quick), I actually think they get more aggressive on offense with Oden out...Don't really understand that, Oden's great for the put backs off a layup, but can't really do much about a rebound from a shot beyond the arc if it doesn't bounce his way. Great win.

i would like to bring up something that i have read on a couple tennessee boards: the "questionable" call on tennessee when conley drove to the bucket with under ten seconds left. let's say that there wasn't a foul and that the refs never called a foul. guess who ended up getting the ball off of conley's miss? oden. guess who was between him and the basket, which he was practically under? nobody. guess what happens when oden is next to the basket and there is nobody between him and it?

i think we all know.
