Ohio State at Iowa, Saturday, 8 PM, ESPN2

The guys we have (tOSU) with experience and talent have no desire. The guys we have with no experience and undeveloped talent have the desire. The lone senior plays with desire only sometimes. Both he and Tate are defensive liabilities. It was pretty obvious even without Dakich talking it up. Clearing out for a one-on-one on Potter was obvious to a seven year old. Why was Kam Williams not getting the ball? Isn't he the big time three shooter? Some of the Buckeyes wore holes in the floor (they were standing there overmuch). No wonder Thad shaves his head, it hurts too much to pull his hair out. Trevor played alot of minutes, had five fouls and zero points. Huh? This is supposed to be his money year and on to the pros. A walk-on was out-rebounding him and driving around him (and Potter). At least Bell was moving around and jumping under the basket (it's called second effort, I seem to recollect). When tOSU point guard penetrates, good things happen. However, the offense seems to go backward toward the ten second line, rather into the paint. Gotta admit, I've not seen so much ballyhooed talent achieve so little in forty minutes of play.

Did anyone seem the same game I seem to have seen? But always, Go Bucks!

When I was able to play basketball, I always played to win and always put forth my biggest effort. I guess the team that I watched last night does not feel the same way that I once did. None of them seemed to want to win the game. No effort whatsoever. I do not know if you can blame Matta for this abysmal performance because he can only yell so much. I did not realize that there has not been a team captain for the past 2 years:sad:

In college sports, coaches pick their players. These are his recruits. He owns the results.

I just do not think it is about how good of a basketball player some of those guys are but the effort that they put forth. That is something that is very difficult to find out when recruiting a guy.. Plus, who would have thought Thompson would give 0 points and Loving, one of the top players in Ohio when he was recruited, would play like he has half-asleep. If they would have just put forth the effort that they put forth earlier in the week, they might have won this game. I know that he picked these guys but I think that he certainly thought that he would get more effort out of them.

I missed this one...what happened, did Jok, their only true stud, light us up? What's that? He didn't even play?

It will be nice not needing to remember any games from the NIT in years down the road.
