Ohio State at Michigan State, Sunday, February 17, 1 PM, CBS

Not too sure about Holtmann now either. Starting to think Keita made him look really good last year. We'll see next year, I guess. But, the argument against Thad was always late season regression instead of improvement. Holtmann's team is doing the same!
I think it is more of a function of not having a true point guard and nobody who can go out and get their own shot. Horrible shooters and a majority of guys that can’t finish and this is what you get. We surprised people early in the season but as game tape built opposing coaches built the blueprint to beat us. Face it we are not very athletic as a team. That will change starting next year...

It's Holtmann's second year. KBD was a good Thad holdover. Some of these other guys, not so much.

Next year's recruiting class is highly regarded. Let's see what Holt does with them.

That second half was one of the worst displays of basketball that I have ever watched and I do not think that you can blame it on the lack of a PG. The entire team stunk including the coaching. They played pretty well in the first half but after that it was one big cluster tuck. This team does not deserve to play in any type of postseason competition. It was just embarrassing.

Even the officials got into it with their lack of seeing an obvious over and back.

Pretty simple. Holtmann has managed this terribly.

i'm done giving ho1tmann the benefit of the doubt. his substitutions are horrible, and he fails at teaching this team that pushing tempo via transition and penetration hamstrings us. the defensive philosophy regarding quick double- and triple-teams is shaky at best since we have neither adequate foot speed nor length. and he's way too easygoing about turnovers. our physical and talent limitations are obvious, but i don't see a guy who is putting us in the best position to win. and wouldn't it be nice to see some red-ass from him every now and then?

i'm hopeful for the future because of the talent we have coming in. otherwise, i am less so. i still like the guy, think he's an excellent representative of our university, and am glad he is our coach, but i have serious questions about him from an x's and o's standpoint. next year is going to be enlightening.

we're very fortunate that creighton and ucla are average-to-poor teams this season. we're very fortunate that bucknell lost pretty much everyone off of last season's team. and we're very fortunate that cincy couldn't hit the ocean from the beach even when they had wide open looks. otherwise, we'd be no better than indiana.

Just saw the final on my FB feed. WTF. They were up 31-26 at the half and then turn around and get outscored 36-13 in the second? Probably a good thing I haven't been following them much, much less watching them on TV, lest I be out of a couple pieces of furniture...

Except that we beat Indiana!

the thing is this, though: do you see this team progressing or regressing?

it's difficult to judge a coach from march to november. from november to march is quite another matter.

heck, how pleased are you about the in-game coaching?
