Game Thread Ohio State at Oklahoma, 09/17/16 @ 9:00pm ET, FOX

This is my favorite part of the offseason though. Visiting fans coming here, rattling off names as if nobody has ever faced a team that wasn't one dimensional before. How you gonna stop {enter roster here}?!

Oh [Mark May] man....I didn't think of that. You have players with names?! Does Urban know?

Fuck you, man. You don't know shit about the P-Train!

You wanna talk smack about our stadium?? Meh, okay.

Maybe the more educated Bucknuts can tell us about yall's defense and how they're going to stop Mayfield, Andrews, P-Train and Mixon from running up and down all over the field? You lost more guys from last year than Kanye and Kim lost credibility points since their marriage!
The DL should be pretty good. Lewis started, Hubbard was the starting end on third downs and Hill was practically the starter late in the year at DT. They are also replacing a Bosa with another one who was better in HS than Joey. Whether he will continue that trajectory remains to be seen, especially since he's replacing a 3rd year Joey, but he's full go and brimming with potential.

OSU has a top corner in Conley and some good young corners opposite him. The safeties will be newer but have a lot of backup reps, which is about as much as you can hope for in this situation.

The concern is the lb position. McMillan is a stud but the other two spots are very green. Booker has incredible potential but is still learning the position with Perry gone to the nfl.

The biggest hole on the defense is the other lb spot, vacated by darron Lee. He was an unbelievable talent and gave them the versatility to stay in their base 4-3 against 3 wide formations and thrive. He could cover slots, detonate screens and blitz incredibly well. He was part of a dominant 3 man pass rush on 3rd downs in 2014.

His replacement is currently Chris Worley, who is a 5th year senior with plenty of experience (he started ahead of Lee initially) but he has yet to put it all together. Nipping at his heels is Jerome baker, a special athlete with similar skills to Lee athletically but he's extremely green. He played very sparingly last year.

I expect osu to look somewhat similar to early 2014 osu that had a lot of talent but had not really gelled yet. Their offense will have to put up points early and get back to the pass first offense they showcased a few times in 2014 with huge success. If they can't maintain that balance and return to the zone read run heavy offense from 2015, they will lose 2-3 games.

According to this:

http://www.soonerstats.com/football/coaches/ou/vstop25.cfm?OUCoachID=22#.V6JUo1T3anM

Oklahoma is 4-4 at home against top 25 opponents since 2012.

I don't really care enough about Oklahoma to watch them a lot but I do recall Notre Dame going into Norman and skull fucking the Sooners pretty good a few years back.

Maybe that's where I got my impression of it not being such a hostile environment(to be fair i don't know what their home win % was that year).

Well, assuming you're referring to the Heupel years (as an offensive coordinator, not our 2000 NC quarterback) then you must not notice that OU lost only twice at home under Bob Stoops.

Add to it, Baker's our best quarterback since Sam Bradford and our offensive talent this year is pretty close to the high scoring 2008 offense that scored over 700.

Trust me, the rest of the world doesn't know the epoch's of Sooner coordinators. Nor do we care.

No one's saying you have to care. It's just I wouldn't set myself up for disappointment by thinking you'll walk out of Norman with the W.

Ohio State is very young and inexperienced. As a fan of one of your opponents, I must tell you that our first game against Houston at NRG is more worriesome than the young Buckeyes coming into Norman where you will be introduced to the real architects of championship football!
