Game Thread Ohio State at Penn State, 10/22/16, 8:00pm ET ABC/WatchESPN

I know this was brought up last night by @billmac91 about the schedule but Bama who is our benchmark has done this and they face it more than anyone

We supposedly have one of the best staffs in the country maybe we need 30 analyst getting 20k a year to help out like Bama.

I don't have any issue with playing teams coming off a bye. I have an issue stacking us against teams coming off byes in consecutive weeks. Of the 27 times Bama has played a team coming off a bye, I'd be curious to see how often they had to go on the road against teams
coming off a bye, in night games.

Thanks for posting this. I know Weber put up good stats to start but it was apparent to me he would struggle with better competition. Even though he has been touted as a power back, we have yet to see any true power to his game. He has been too easily tackled and rarely breaks any tackles.
Are you kidding? The kid has had but three or four rushes all year where he lost yardage (I think Fowler or Turdstreet mentioned last night he had only three carries for negative yardage coming into the game). I've seen him break quite a few tackles and move the pile forward more than several times. He's a strong, solid back...not at Zeke's level, but still damn good for his experience. A lot of his reduced production lately has been due to defenses stacking the line (Indy, Wiscy, Pedsters). Our OL gets overwhelmed more than it should. Aside from Samuel's long TD run, I don't recall a single time where the OL opened up a significant hole.

What I don't get is why we don't try to create plays with our WRS... Ithat's obviously won't happen by just calling a play and having JT read things.

Most of our WRs are converted running backs so run more screens, swing passes, JET SWEEPS, or bubble screens. These aren't receivers their running backs so treat then that way

How does that 81% winning percentage compare against their overall winning percentage? I'm not going to whine about the scheduling because tOSU should be able to play PSU on the moon with Joesus' family officiating and Jerry Big Nose whacking off in the Stadium tunnel after taking on the Patriots at Foxborough the week prior and still prevail (and Lord knows that between the play calling and execution the Buckeyes deserved what they got last night), but I do think that the Wiscy-PSU back-to-back road night games with them both being getting bye weeks prior didn't do tOSU any favors.

Night game is a different animal I agree but CBS chooses not to have them a lot of times...

Last year they faced Tennacheat, Aggy, (bye),LSU so nearly 3 straight weeks of teams coming off byes.
2014 if you count UT Martin as a by it was LSU then Miss state

I see your point about back to back byes and night games... but the players seemed flat coming out under the lights.

btw we did it in 2014 - back to back byes - granted Rutgers != Wisky on the road but we've done it before.

Let's see. Our five losses under Meyer have been to Sparty in the B1G CCG (both teams had "bye" weeks), Clemson in the Orange Bowl (both teams had multiple "Bye" weeks), VT at home (they played William & Mary the previous week), Sparty at home (they played Maryland the previous week). So, this is our first loss under Meyer against a team--conference foe or not--coming off a true bye week. We know Wiscy came off a bye week for them, so we're at least 1-1 against bye-week opponents. Maybe @LordJeffBuck would know how many other teams we've played under Meyer that were coming off bye weeks. What ever that number is, add it to the Wiscy game for wins against bye-week teams and I'd bet our record stack up against Bama's percentage-wise...

PSU had more than 1 more week than the Bucks to prepare. The team arrived in Cbus from Madison at 5am on Sunday, so they had to take that day off. So the schedule was shortened from normal, and since Sunday is normally their "work day", it seems they didn't have a work day to prepare for state penn.
