Game Thread Ohio State at Penn State, 10/22/16, 8:00pm ET ABC/WatchESPN

Well last week I said 3 TD spread for Wisky game because I honestly thought the whole game would go like the second half did. Tip of the cap to Chryst and his team for how prepared they were off the bye week.

This week isn't going to resemble that for several reasons;
  • the PSU staff isn't good enough to scheme that well
  • after Oklahoma and the very next game after Wisconsin, the white out effect will be minimal at best
  • the Pedsters don't have the talent along either line or, as critically important, at LB to do what Wisconsin did
  • did I mention that Franklin vs Meyer is such a mismatch to almost be unfair?
Line is at -21 for a reason. Lots of people see this ass beating coming.

Wisconsin played about they best game they could have and threw some wrinkles in that I don't think we were ready for

I don't think the same is in store for Ped State.

Their defense is nowhere as good as the Badgers. They let SCUM run for 326 yards on them, Minnesota 228 at 4.8 YPC, Pitt 341 yards, Maryland only had 170 on the ground but that was still at 4.5 YPC. Basically we are going to run wild on them.

I hope it's a unholy beat down with like one or two "questionable" calls going against them so we can hear them cry about how they lost the game by 3+ TDs because of one "momentum changing" call

AFTER TOUGH ROAD WIN OHIO STATE NOW SHIFTS FOCUS ON RETURN TO PENN STATE, A PLACE IT NEARLY LOST ITS SEASON TWO YEARS AGO

Urban Meyer rarely is even in a position where he has to start coming up with words to say to his team after a loss. In fact, he says it only happened once since he took the head coaching job at Ohio State.

“This is the only other one that's been like that that I can recall, that every indicator was up that we lost the game,” Meyer said on Monday. “At Penn State, the story was told.”

After blowing a 17-0 lead, Ohio State rallied to defeat the Nittany Lions in October of 2014 in double overtime. Christian Hackenberg led a charge and forced overtime in front of a wild crowd and the stadium's annual White Out. Penn State took a touchdown lead in the first overtime session before two J.T. Barrett touchdown runs and a walk-off sack by Joey Bosa kept the Buckeyes in the Big Ten East race.

As close as it was to winning, it nearly went the other way for Ohio State.

“The script was written,” Meyer said. “I just remember thinking what am I going to say to this team afterwards? It crossed my mind.”

Ohio State left State College and eventually won the Big Ten and National Championship in 2014. Meyer often references that game as the season's turning point, when his team grew together and rebounded in a special way to escape in triumph.

The Buckeyes did something similar this past Saturday at Wisconsin, a victory Meyer puts on the same level in terms of resiliency on his team's part as the Penn State game two years ago.

Ohio State returns to State College, Pennsylvania, on Saturday for you guessed it: A White Out. Therein lies the challenge.

“We have another tough task, a team that's 4-0 at home. I called it—the last two times, wish they saved the white outs for other games, but I guess they used it for our game,” Meyer said. “It's one of the top five atmospheres, again, in college football.”

IMHO, one of 11W's better articles.

Story for all of you to make you feel better about this week.

My freshman year playing college football we had to test out in bench press along with everything else. I started out practicing benching 135, then 225, then 275, then 315, then 405. The players screamed at me dude STOP ur up next and you're going to be tired.

Little did they know I got under 225 and it felt like a feather and I cranked out 22 reps.

Well Wisconsin was the 405 and PSU is the 225.

We got this.

The only good thing about PSU is Larry Johnson - thanks for the amazing addition to the coaching staff, that is one hell of an underrated position coach.

Anymore it's more fun to talk smack with an Iowa fan than a Nitany Lion fan. It's sad when it's gotten to this point. I can literally trash the team say we will win by 3 scores and the rebuttals seems to be an simple, "probably."

That doesn't make me feel better. It makes me feel like a weakling and a puss.
