that site doesnt really give you any insight about the players and doesnt answer what im really asking
and what will Bokor play here? i think 5'10 (probably 5'9) is too small to pitch saw he was also a SS

I have always had trouble finding out recruiting info on tOSU baseball. I know there are a couple of threads a few pages back about OF Tim Wetzel (Westlake) and RHP Greg Greve (Walsh Jesuit). Sadly, those are the only two guys i now about. Wetzel did come out and say he was sticking with tOSU eventhough Todd is retiring. By all account, these guys are pretty promising prospects.

There are some very good players in Ohio, but they are not going here. I noticed that Costal Carolina, Elon, Louisville, Kansas St, LSU, Virgina, Ole Miss, Ga Tech, Virgina, ect have all nabbed some of the better players in Ohio. Stetson Allie of St Eds is one of the best players in the country, but he committed to UNC. Allie likely wont be playing college ball, though. He is projected to be a 1st round draft pick..

We should here more about the early signings in a few weeks.

Edit: I forgot about RHP Josh Dezse (Olentangy Liberty)

what do you know about Dezse and Greve? also any idea why we didnt go after Chris Thomas? he was 5-0 with a 0.25 ERA last time i checked with a no hitter. i do hope we get this kid named Alex Sedon next year in the last 2 years (Soph and JR) he has thrown 3 No hitters and 3 1 hitters and only given up 3 runs

My son is Jacob Hayes, who is an incoming shortstop from Terre Haute, Indiana. Despite the news of Coach Todd's retirement, Jacob is very excited about becoming a member of next year's Ohio State Buckeye baseball team.

We attended our first Ohio State home baseball game a few weeks ago and loved the atmosphere. We hope the current baseball Bucks send Coach Todd off with a Big Ten tournament championship.

Welcome! Does your son know Chris Macke? Thought he was from Terre Haute too.

I think you just set the record for most rep points for a first-ever post.

Chris Macke

Yes, my son knows Chris Macke. Chris came to Ohio State because my brother and my nephew were his American Legion coach. My nephew, Mike Hayes, was in Coach Todd's first recruiting class and played at OSU from 1989 to 1994. He had to redshirt one year because of shoulder surgery, which cut his career short.

My older brother has been coaching a very successful American Legion program here for about 27 years. Josh Phegley of IU played on the 2006 team that was the World Series runner-up. Also on that team was Brady Shoemaker and Nick Ciolli who later played at Indiana State. All three of those guys were drafted last summer by the White Sox and are currently in "A" ball, with two of them currently on the same minor league team. Anyway, Chris was an assistant coach on my brother's American Legion team last year. He and Jacob are friends. Chris comes from a really nice family and he's a great young man. He is currently in law school at Capital University.

If it hadn't been for Chris's dad, Jacob might not be on his way to OSU. I ran into him last summer, and he asked me if I was taking Jacob over to the OSU prospect camp. Many camps that I had taken Jacob to after his sophomore year were around the first of August, so didn't realize that the OSU camp was about a week away at the time. I registered Jacob for the camp. We went. They liked him. Coach Cypret came to Terre Haute a couple of weeks later to watch Jacob play. We then went for an unofficial visit (to the USC football game) and then back for an official visit (to the Illinois football game) and Jacob made his verbal commitment that weekend.

It's really weird how things happen. Jacob dreamed of playing at Ohio State from the time he was a little boy because his first cousin, Mike (who was Jacob's family baseball idol) had played there. As Coach Todd later told him when he made his decision to attend OSU over Indiana, "Well, sometimes in life dreams do come true."

I don't mean to be a D, but can someone change the title of this thread to something like 'Buckeyes Baseball Recruiting'. Not that I don't love baseball and all, it's just sort of confusing when it pops up on the main forums list. :wink2:

Thanks.

Agree. It would be nice if this thread would be labeled "Baseball Recruiting" so when it pops up on the front page everybody doesn't go scrambling thinking it's about football:)
