The NFL Draft is right around the corner and over the next few days, the staff here at The Buckeye Battle Cry want to share with you our favorite Buckeye Moments from the draft eligible players from the Ohio State program.

Today, we look at cornerback Eli Apple. The Voorhees Township, NJ native developed into a very nice cover corner for Ohio State.

Here are my five top moments during Apples’ Ohio State career.

5. October 25, 2014 – The “Forced Fumble” vs. Penn State

In a tight ‘white-out’ game, Eli came up with big hit late in the 3rd period on a swing pass to force a fumble. Although the Nittany Lions retained possession, this was another bit hit in an evening of physical play. Ohio State went on to win in double overtime. The play occurs at the 1:41:50 mark in the video, below.

4. September 15, 2015 – “INT and Return” vs. Northern Illinois

Ohio State was struggling offensively against NIU, hen Eli momentarily stopped the bleeding with an interception and return to give the Buckeye defense a bit of needed rest. The play occurs at the :46 mark in the video, below.

3. September 7, 2015 – “The Fumble Recovery” vs. Virginia Tech

In the “Revenge Game” against Virginia Tech, Eli recovered a fumble to thwart a Hokie drive. On the next play, Braxton Miller unleashed his Xbox move on his 53 yard TD run. The play occurs at the 1:43:12 mark on the video, below.

2. January 1, 2015 – “The Breakup” vs. Alabama, National Playoff Game

Alabama was desperately trying to get the tieing touchdown in the game. With :15 remaining in the game, Eli made a nice play to break up a long corner route. Tyvis Powell makes the game-saving interception on the next play. The play occurs at the 28:23 mark in the video, below.

1. January 12, 2015 – “The Pass Breakup” vs. Oregon, National Championship Game

Ohio State was leading Oregon 21-17 well into the 3rd quarter, but the Ducks were driving for a go-ahead touchdown. Oregon QB tried to loop a pass over the head of the OSU secondary to his tight end , but Eli Apple made a timely push the receiver out of bound for the incomplete pass. Oregon settled for a field goal; the last point they would score in the game. The play occurs at the 28:23 mark in the video, below.

Well done, Eli, well done. And thank you.
