Bob Kepler (coached OSU golf 1938-1965)
L.W. St. John, (OSU Athletic Director, 1912-1947) responsible for both Scarlet and Gray golf courses
Tom Nieporte, NCAA champ, OSU Hall of Fame, 5 yrs pro tour
John Lorns, NCAA champ, Doctorate in dentistry 2 wks before he won and son of Pro golfer; team won Natl title as well

Franchise Four Football coaches

Francis Schmidt
Paul Brown
Woody Hayes

Then it gets interesting. I'll list the people I left off the list and why;
  • Earl Bruce; he was fired for being "old 9-3 earl". I love him, he had some of the best talent to ever play at OSU, his influence on the next generation of coaches is already legendary and not yet fully written but he can't, imo, be a FF coach.
  • John Cooper; first get the fuck out of here if you even considered him and second ....2-10-1
  • Jim Tressel; I can't put him on there for the way it ended, just can't
  • Urban Meyer; all the chapters aren't written yet. If he has some Florida-like flame out or off field player issue tsunami all the NC's in the world won't get him on my personal list. That said, if he avoids any off field stuff he's a lock.
What say you BP?

John Wilce as the 4th? Coached during the rise in prominence of the program, and coached the first win over the weasels.

all joking aside Jim Tressel was fired for lying to the NCAA in attempt to keep players eligible so he could win some more games, The Sugar Bowl vs Arkansas chief amongst them. I don't buy it being a completely selfless act to help a bunch of underprivileged kids at all. The importance of the rule they were all knowingly breaking is immaterial.

Woody was fired for losing his shit in a moment of rage and punching the player

I can live with temporary insanity better than I can live with calculated deception from a person in a position that makes them a representative of Ohio State.

Football: Harley, Willis, Griffin, Pace.

When Barrett is finished I'll have to find one of those to replace.

Hoop: Lucas, Freeman, Kellogg, Conley. The last of these is the best I've ever seen in a Buckeye uniform.

I'd feel a certain way about it if damn near every coach in CFB wouldn't have done the same thing Tressel did....they just haven't been asked the question. My dad tells me stories of the Cadillac Cornelius Greene would drive around campus with "Corny" written and affixed to the car in place of the word Cadillac. I would be surprised if Woody didn't know about it....but he makes everybody's list without question. Is the only difference that Tressel got caught?

Jim Tressel won 9 of 10 against M*ch*g*n. I thought that was the way things were measured around here.

Besides, I kinda prefer having a coach that's a duplicitous, cutthroat SOB as long as there's no actual crime involved. Defending the moral high ground is a waste of energy when it comes to college football. Leave that fake gentlemanly posturing to has-beens like M*ch*g*n, who have nothing else to hang their hats on.
