I'd feel a certain way about it if damn near every coach in CFB wouldn't have done the same thing Tressel did....they just haven't been asked the question. My dad tells me stories of the Cadillac Cornelius Greene would drive around campus with "Corny" written and affixed to the car in place of the word Cadillac. I would be surprised if Woody didn't know about it....but he makes everybody's list without question. Is the only difference that Tressel got caught?

Jim Tressel won 9 of 10 against M*ch*g*n. I thought that was the way things were measured around here.

Besides, I kinda prefer having a coach that's a duplicitous, cutthroat SOB as long as there's no actual crime involved. Defending the moral high ground is a waste of energy when it comes to college football. Leave that fake gentlemanly posturing to has-beens like M*ch*g*n, who have nothing else to hang their hats on.

Just one guys opinion but where Tressel lost me was always putting up the Ned Flanders front while being something far from it in reality. I always found it arrogant and condescending.

If you want to be an edgy son of a bitch then fine, just be somewhat honest about it. Don't think you can give some gasbag senatorial bullshit answer to everything, smile and dismiss me while I'm too fucking stupid or in such awe of your football coaching status to question it.

Always love him for 9-1 and the 2002 NC. Not my favorite human being.

all joking aside Jim Tressel was fired for lying to the NCAA in attempt to keep players eligible so he could win some more games, The Sugar Bowl vs Arkansas chief amongst them. I don't buy it being a completely selfless act to help a bunch of underprivileged kids at all. The importance of the rule they were all knowingly breaking is immaterial.

I can live with temporary insanity better than I can live with calculated deception from a person in a position that makes them a representative of Ohio State.

Huh? It was the NCAA themselves that cleared players for the Sugar Bowl... you could see that getting rescinded coming a mile away when Ohio State won.
Too many people would've lost too much money (a lot of money) if their suspensions had started with that game... nobody would have tuned in to watch it.

Tom Weiskopf - Just as I was about to post Weiskopf and Nelloms (who turned out to be a scary guy) and Glenn Davis I discovered it was already posted. The 34 track team had Charile Bauman (Big Ten 880 record holder) and a high jumper, later Dayton and state politician can't pull his name out of the hat though. Apologies to Jag. Speaking of very special Buckeyes, sad to note tonight that John Havleciek has died. For those of you too young to remember watching him, you missed a great one. Incredible performances every game he played and at both ends of the court. His endurance was something right out fantasy, capable of going full steam even in the final minutes of a game. RIP and thanks.
