Game Thread Ohio State @ Iowa, 11/04/17 @ 3:30 (ESPN)

One thing I heard Brady Quinn mention doing the color commentary of the Iowa/Minny game was that Iowa doesn't sub out of their base personnel packages very often on defense. Meaning when they go "nickel" they don't actually bring in an extra DB for a LB. They just use their LB.

If that holds true and they don't get pressure it shouldn't go very well for Iowa's D.

For the love of god....please don't talk about going horizontally.
east west? lol

Ok ok I'll stop..

Yeah just saw both their original senior tackles are out for the year so yep they're rolling with two freshman at tackle. Now consider how Stanley doesn't move well and how they don't have much to threaten us over top. Oh boy...

Overall this Iowa team reminds me of a step up from Nebraska. Similar Demographic, similar stadium, similar system on offense (NU is better on offense then they are), but with a better defense.

The two frosh OTs are good ones and going to be NFL players eventually, but yes they are freshman and will definitely be challenged by OSU's DEs.

Predicted this game to be more difficult than it should before the season started considering the games before and then later in the season Sparty got interesting. Hoping it’s one of those ones we hear about being a trap game but dominate from the start. Not nearly as worried as before on paper. Secondary has gotten better and the DL is playing well and should be able to force a couple TO’s. Would like to see us run right at them and get the ball to more than a handful of receivers and if we don’t score, win the field position and make them earn any points and not give them short field to work with. Hopefully the playoff committee gives them something to be pissed off about and come out and make a statement Saturday. I have a feeling the 4th quarter Saturday was just the beginning of what we can expect.

looking at it on paper Iowa isn't really that special defensively ranking 46th in over defense, 46th in rush defense (145 per game), 69th in passing defense (225 per game), but Iowa is 12th in scoring defense at 17.5. They're most definitely a bend but don't break kind of defense so scoring TD's when we get down there is a must and I believe with how well we run/pass the ball we certainly can do this.

Iowa is very similar statistically to Indiana to be honest. They aren't as good as Indiana when it comes to allowing less yards but they're better at preventing scores.
