Ohio State @ Iowa, Saturday, January 12 @ 2:30pm, BTN

If you told me the Bucks were going to shoot 10 for 25 from three I'd have liked our chances. Somehow, our boys managed to shoot worse from inside the arc (12 for 34). Double digit turnovers each half didn't help the cause.

I know it's cool to rag on Andre every game but he was actually okay today (and the reality is that he has been a solid contributor for like 75-80% of the season). And Jallow gave us his monthly decent performance. And Ledee had some productive minutes, glad Holtmann was willing to shake up the line-ups even though he's working more with pawns than his chess opponents--unfortunately there is a by-product that our team identity is in a bit of limbo as Holtmann tries to figure out the best possible solutions now that we're better scouted and playing much tougher games.

And then our team identity is also going to be shaky when Kaleb has a bad night because a lot of our offensive identity is built on Kaleb making good things happen from the post position. Unfortunately, Kaleb had about the worst game of his entire OSU career. Given the very limited nature of our team and the fact that Kaleb is one of our only consistent scoring threats, uh, yeah, we won't win many games where he scores 2 points and has 5 turnovers.

The turnovers and the guard play on a whole today were really awful. So if that continues, yeah, there's another scenario where will we be lucky to win another B1G game.

He is one of the oldest guys on the team and has played much more than most of the other guys so he should be a little bit better than the freshmen currently on the roster. However, his lack of ball handling is atrocious. I think the only really good thing he does on the court is play pretty good defense outside of that I really cannot see much. You would think that he would be a pretty good rebounder and scorer with his size and experience but I am not seeing either. So I do not see a solid contributor like you do… sorry.

I dunno what level of rebounding you are expecting from Andre, but he is definitely contributing on the glass. That was the one good thing he did in the Rutgers game, grab 6 boards. He is averaging about 4.4 rpg, which isn't great but he and Kyle are basically our two best rebounders after Kaleb.

Look, I get it, Andre is limited and has frustrating plays at the worst times and the way he plays is not pretty. It helps lead to people constantly whining about him because I think they are just tired of seeing him out there, everyone was talking about how bad he was yesterday even when he sort of had the best stat line on the team with 13 pts, 3 reb, 4 assists, 1 block, 1 steal, and just 1 TO (of the team's 21 turnovers).

In a couple years one of our current young guys will be the upperclassman scapegoat that everyone's begging to sit so they can see what some freshman on the bench can do. It's the circle of life.
