Game Thread Ohio State @ Maryland - 11/17/18, 12:00PM (ABC)

I’m not gonna chalk the pick 6 up to luck. 2 people made plays there. But shit, that fumble TD and the bobbled catch TD? The fumble/sack late in the 4th that bounced right back to him? Give me a break.
Oh The pick six wasn't luck but the bounce that allowed him to catch it on the dead run was if he has to stop like most of those bounced in the air there is a chance it doesn't go for 6. Same with the fumble borland pounced on and had it squirt away. I forgot about the fumbled sack. Every bounce seemed to be going their way till the final 2pt conversion they missed.

Sorry if already posted, but Ohio State is now 11-2 in overtime games (at this moment, Wikipedia is not up-to-date https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NCAA_Division_I_FBS_overtime_records).

2002 - Single overtime victory over Illinois
2002 - Double overtime victory over Miami
2003 - Triple overtime victory over NC State
2003 - Single overtime victory over Purdue
2004 - Single overtime loss to Northwestern
2009 - Single overtime win over Iowa
2011 - Single overtime loss to Purdue
2012 - Single overtime victory over Purdue
2012 - Single overtime victory over Wisconsin
2014 - Double overtime victory over Penn State
2016 - Double overtime victory over *ichigan
2018 - Single overtime victory over Maryland

In every single one of them, except the 2009 game against Iowa and the 2016 game against *ichigan, Ohio State ended the game on defense. Illinois, Miami, NC State were all stopped on 4th down. Purdue missed a field goal against Ohio State's field goal defense (I'm counting it as defense). Northwestern and Purdue each scored their touchdowns against OSU's defense. Iowa was a made field goal to win (I'm counting that as Ohio State's offense). Purdue, Wisconsin, and Penn State were each stopped on 4th down. Maryland was stopped on their 2-pt conversion attempt. Only the Iowa game and the *ichigan game were won with OSU's offense on the field.

*** Edit - I had forgotten about the Iowa game. I changed a bunch throughout the post to fix that mistake. Thanks buckeyesin07. ***

*** Edit2 - I had originally posted the Iowa game was 2008. No, it was 2009. ***

It's absolutely insane how fast the seasons go by. I swear it seems like yesterday when I was walking into the 2009 Fiesta Bowl as a young highschooler...

Time is a greased slide.

Back when I worked as an office temp, I was sent into a place that employed an elderly secretary--maybe 80-ish. Must have been later in the year, because one day I said something to her about how fast a season had gone, and she told me to just wait until I was old. It only gets faster.
And that has proven to be my experience. The past three months have been especially dizzying. I blinked three times and it was Labor Day, it was mid-September, it was October. And it hasn't slowed down. Now November is more than half over.

If anything, there's more grease on the slide the farther down you go.

Pay attention, would be my only advice. Sharpen your focus on the present moment, and on the things that matter most to you, take mental photos of special things. It's the only defense against the slide that I know.

That said, this is *ichigan Week of 2018. It lasts seven days. It only happens once. Pay attention.

It seems to go faster as we get older because each moment represents a smaller and smaller percentage of our total experience.

That said, the fountain of youth then, is to be found in getting so blacked out drunk you can't remember anything.

That list isn't complete. I was at an OT game in Columbus against Iowa in which OSU won and clinched the Big Ten title (this was when Tressel was coach, before the Big Ten championship game). If I remember right, OSU had the ball first in OT and made a field goal. Then our defense made three good plays, such that Iowa wasn't even in field goal range on fourth down, so they just heaved it for the end zone. Pass incomplete. Game over. We need that kind of D this weekend.
