Ohio State @ Maryland, Saturday, February 23, 2:00 PM, ESPN

I don't have much hope because we have not been competitive against top B1G teams. In six losses against Maryland, Purdue, TTUN, MSU, and Iowa we have only came within single digits once (a 9 point loss to MSU). It's not like this team has been close to pulling a much needed upset

Unfortunately, I believe you are correct. OSU just has a limited upside and their ceiling seems to be under the level the top-6 teams play at (aside from maybe Iowa). Kenpom gives OSU a 27% chance to win the game, and that seems overly optimistic ... I don't like OSU's chances unless Maryland is somehow down a few starters.

good news: osu lost the first game with maryland shooting 65% (11/17) from three and osu shooting 23% (6/26). if both teams regress even a little toward the mean, we'll have a much better shot at keeping the game close if not winning.

bad news: we lost by 14 despite committing only 10 turnovers.

good news: maryland is 351st in forcing turnovers.

bad news: neither jackson nor young may be 100%.

"good" news: we're no worse on the road than we are at home.

bad news: they have cowan and fernando. we don't.

How is the line only 5.5 pts on the road ? I would have expected Maryland to be favored by 9.
IDK, man. I bet Maryland in this game. Probably should be more of an 8-point favorite. Just has the feeling of another game where OSU is close at half after a decent performance and then can't find a way to score enough to keep pace in the second half and lose easily.

Good news: OSU would be highly likely to make the NCAA tournament with a win in this game.

Good news: I put a nice sized whammy bet on Maryland to win straight up

Most recent example of my whammy bet powers: I put some coin on Duke the other night just because I hate that rat faced bastard coach and could stand the thought of the suck fest that would follow them destroying UNC. 30 seconds into it Zion blows out his shoe and almost his knee.

I figure OSU needs several shoes to blow out today but stranger shit has happened.

UMD is officially on jinxed upset alert.

Tip of day: Don't refer to Frenando as "King Kong".

An Iowa broadcaster was suspended Friday for the rest of the season for referring to University of Maryland basketball forward Bruno Fernando as “King Kong” during a recent game.

Gary Dolphin, a fan favorite who is the University of Iowa’s football and basketball play-by-play man, came under fire after he said on Tuesday that Fernando, who is black, “was King Kong at the end of the game.”
