Ohio State Men's Lacrosse (2013 ECAC Champions)

Bucks getting killed on face offs, 16-4. That's a lot to overcome, but the deficit is back down to one with 2:40 left.

8-9

And another face off loss. ND has won all 7 in the 4th quarter.

This team is incredibly frustrating to watch. There’s a lot of talent. The defense is as good as its ever been in Columbus. But there’s no denying that they are a bit sloppy. I’ve not had a lot of time to write about the games this year, and I’ve only missed watching / listening to one... but they seem to put themselves in a bad spot with unforced errors and mental mistakes. Today, being one down at the end of the game with possession and going offsides is a perfect example... I have to guess Nick is frustrated with some of the sloppiness too.

To answer @ORD_Buckeye, IMHO they played above expectations last year. I think the team last year was a bit of a perfect storm of very good senior talent (Fannell, Pearson, Withers, Pfister and Carey) who left some big shoes to fill, some young guns who played exceptional as freshman and a team chemistry that is apparently hard to duplicate. Looking at what was coming back, I expected a better season than what we’ve seen so far, but can understand how they are where they are. Just in what we lost with specialists (Withers on the draw and Carey in cage), that’s got to account for a big portion of the difference alone. Probably another difference maker this year was Pearson graduating. This has put a lot of responsibility on Tre to score. They need another really big gun out there with Tre to keep the defense honest. That was the beauty of last year’s team... they had a lot of scoring options in personnel and in terms of _how_ they put the ball in net.

They are young, and there’s apparently a switch in cage that seems to be working, but they have to clean up their play and find an offensive identity.

But yeah, today was just really hard to watch. Take nothing away from the Domers, they played well, but I am more inclined to say that this game was lost by the Bucks as opposed to won by ND.

They have to clean it up or there’s going to be one bumm’n locker room before the spring football game. Those SOBs up north are putting together a real team now that they sent coach Paul packing. I knew that would happen once he was let go...

So we played those fuckers from up north last night. As most know, the game was moved to make room for pushing the spring game earlier in the day due to weather.

Imma not lie. I was concerned about this game, more so than any other year we’ve played them. Their program is slowly trending in the right direction.

Thankfully they came out with a win. 8-5. Tre had a hat trick. Good stats from the young guys. Looks like we did well at the dot when it counted.

All in, the clearly is more of a rebuilding year than I expected it to be.

Just finished the game.

Best ball I’ve seen this team play all year. Frankly, may have been a better game than any in the last two years.

Won at the dot.
Very good offensive game plan.
Defense was flip’n outstanding.
And very limited unforced errors. This was a very clean game as far as ball handling.
Off ball movement was very good and they kept the ball hot all day.

It’s a shame that things are coming together now as opposed to a few weeks ago.

Have to beat AquaVelva next week to get to the B1G tourney.

Then have to win the B1G tourney to make the NCAA as an AQ. That’s a tall order.

Future looks good if we have close D that can step up next year. Having a defense with no turnover in players for two years will be hard to replace in ‘19.

About damn time they put together a complete game...

We are firmly on the bubble now. The Marquette loss is like an albatross right now, really coulda used that and the ND game (hell... the Towson game too... ugh OT losses suck). If we were 9-4 right now instead of 7-6, I think we would need one more quality win and we'd be fine... but of course we aren't. I think we need three things:

1) Nothing stupid to happen in other conference tournaments.
2) Beat Rutgers
3) Win AT LEAST one game in the B1G tournament. We might need 2.

That would be ideal, plus then we would be peaking at the right time. It's a tall order. Would be pretty rough to miss out on the NCAAs after our glory run last year
