Ohio State Men's Tennis (2014/2019/2024 ITA Indoor National Champs, 17 Straight B1G Titles)

Great Day to be a Buckeye Fan, my unofficial recap from observing 3 live streams which showed only empty courts at the finish.
Kobelt was a major bonus, he kept the hammer down the whole match. (missed him in my prediction)
Martin Joyce was Clutch, big break at 5-5 when momentum was shifting to Wake Forest.
McNally was against the ITA #1 ranked player and John competed at another level.
JJ Wolf is Mr. Amazement, best return of serve in NCAA right now, also can rip serves and generate pace,
Telling you, We will need to enjoy him this year, cause he will be a top 20 player in the world,
Huge coaching decisions by Tucker with a #2 doubles pairing that proved to be the change needed.
Also in this deep of tournament the best conditioned teams will prevail.
OSU tennis athletes are the best conditioned they will ever be in their lives, lean, strong and have endurance.

Liked seeing your write--up about the younger Kobe in the TT forum.

Kobelt puts up point #3!

Alex Kobelt came up BIG today. In the Championship match vs Wake Forest, Kobelt was the only Buckeye to win a doubles match and a singles match.

Kyle Seelig/Alex Kobelt (OSU) def. Petros Chrysochos/Bar Botzer (WF) 6-1
#86 Alex Kobelt (OSU) def. Yuval Solomon (WF) 6-3, 6-3

Things are rolling right now and I'd be apprehensive on screwing with a machine.

But any thoughts on getting Tim some singles time in the next two weeks?

I've been going back-and-forth with screwing with things, since Kobelt and Hunter are going so well. Go Buckeyes.

I didn’t fully appreciate the comeback from #3 dubs at the time but...
That doubles point yesterday turned out to be critical,
Recap of win yesterday from zootennis blog.

The doubles point Ohio State won in a tiebreaker didn't look particularly significant when the Buckeyes won four first sets in singles against defending champion and No. 3 seed Wake Forest at the ITA Division I Men's Team Indoor Championships today in Chicago.
But when Martin Joyce closed out top-seeded Ohio State's 4-2 victory with a 7-5, 7-5 win over Wake's Melios Efstathiou at line 4, a huge sigh of relief was almost audible at the Midtown Athletic Club, with the doubles point having given the Buckeyes a bit of breathing room that they ended up appreciating. For the second match in a row, Ohio State won the doubles point when the other team was serving for it, and both times it was John McNally and Hunter Tubert at line 3 that mounted the comebacks. Against Wake Forest's Siddhant Banthia and Julian Zlobinsky, McNally and Tubert saved two match points on deciding points serving at 3-5 and receiving at 5-4, and in the tiebreaker that decided the doubles point, came from 3-2 down to win the final five points of the match...

Also Zootennis gives credit to the special powers of Ohio athletes.

Four of the six Buckeyes playing singles today had played in the NCAA final last year against Wake Forest, with the Demon Deacons winning that by the same score that Ohio State posted today. Three of the six Americans in the Ohio State lineup are from Ohio and five are from the Midwest section, a rare team composition with the current trend toward international players in Division I tennis.

Guess you could say the Bucks are not only the National Indoor champions but also the International champions.

The doubles point was HUGE. If Ohio Sate would have lost it, the match would have come down to who wins the 3rd set at court #2:

#62 John McNally (OSU) vs. #1 Petros Chrysochos (WF) 6-4, 6-7 (4-7), 3rd set just starting

and quite frankly I would have liked the #1 rated player's (and reigning NCAA singles champion) chances.

Just sayin': These may be his 2 signature wins, playing as the #5 single (whoopie shit!!!).

5. Kento Yamada (UK) def. #49 William Howells (ND) 6-3, 6-3

5. Kento Yamada (UK) def. #54 Ryan Goetz (VA) 3-6, 7-6 (7-4), 1-0 (10-4)

The Buckeyes are back on the courts tomorrow; hopefully there will be no post tournament "hangover".
