It doesn't look like they agreed to finish the other matches; McNally (6-4, 2-1), Joyce (6-4, 5-4) and Tubert (6-1, 4-4 (40-30)). All 3 Buckeyes were winning.

Hey, it's cold outside, it's a long drive back to Lexington for UK, and the students have classes tomorrow.

Buckeyes win 4-0

And UK can still proclaim that their star player (who was losing 4-6, 4-5) is still undefeated.

Good crowd considering the really crappy weather in Ohio today.

The turnaround for the ITA Champions banner was pretty impressive (even though it's just numbers). The team won Monday afternoon and they added "2019" in less than two days.

Go Buckeyes.

New Oracle/ITA Division I Men's Rankings are out:

Teams
#1 Ohio State
https://www.itatennis.com/ITA/Results_Rankings/2018-2019 Rankings/201819DIMen/2018-2019_DI_Men_s_Team_Rankings/DI_Men_s_National_Team_Rankings_-_Feb._20__2019.aspx

Surprised to see Texas move up from #5 to #3 and Virginia move up from #13 to #4. I guess losses to Ohio State didn't hurt them that much. Wake Forest just flipped from #1 to #2. Ohio State beat #2, #3, and #4...8D

#26 Kyle Seelig
#30 John McNally
#69 Martin Joyce
#91 Alex Kobelt

Doubles

Great post and insight script...
Wow, the team rankings gap of separation between OSU and the "field," 22 points is a significant margin!
I also noted that in the single's rankings:
Martin Joyce went from not ranked to #69, he received a big bump with his performances at the ITA indoors, wins over #49 and #79.
John McNally also got a boost from victory over #12 from Texas. John would have benefitted more if #5 ranked Zielinski of Georgia would have not chosen to quit at match point on 2/10.
JJ Wolf is the only undefeated singles player left in NCAA with 9 top 30 wins over #3, 4, 8, 13, 15, 16, 19, 21, and 28.
Big test is coming this Sunday at noon when #12 ranked Notre Dame travels to Columbus for a showdown.
Go Bucks!

Is indoor tennis an official ncaa sport? Just wondering if we get Director's Cup points for this. I know regular Spring tennis is.

In any event, nice to see the program break our bridesmaid streak.

No, the Buckeyes also won this event in 2014, but only received 5th place points for men's tennis based on the May outdoor results.

The official site has a recap of the week, an update of rankings and a preview of the first B1G match at Penn State on Friday.
https://ohiostatebuckeyes.com/-notebook-feb-11-2/

  • The Buckeyes are able to take a breath on Monday after a two-week run that saw them win eight matches over ranked opponents including seven top-25 teams.
  • But they can’t rest for too long as Big Ten play opens this Friday with a trip to State College, Pa. to take on Penn State.
  • The Buckeyes have won 20 matches in a row vs. Penn State since Ty Tucker took over at the start of the 2000 season. ...
  • Five different Buckeyes were named to the ITA Indoor All-Tournament Team: JJ Wolf was not only the best player at No. 1 singles but he was also named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. Martin Joyce at No. 4 singles and Hunter Tubert at No. 6 singles. Two of the three doubles teams also earned distinction: Kyle Seelig and Alex Kobelt won twice at their No. 2 spot while McNally and Tubert won all four of their matches including providing the clinching point in the championship match....
  • The Buckeyes have surrendered just six points in 15 matches this year. Only three of those six points came prior to the team match being decided.
  • Three Buckeyes are undefeated in the dual portion of the season. JJ Wolf is 12-0 at No. 1 singles and 18-0 overall on the year. He’s also the No. 1 ranked collegiate player in the country. Martin Joyce is 9-0 at the No. 4 spot and Alex Kobelt is 11-0 at the No. 5.
