Ohio State Men's Tennis (2014/2019/2024 ITA Indoor National Champs, 17 Straight B1G Titles)

After dropping his first round match in the ITA all American championship round, Buckeye Freshman Cannon Kingsley roared back to win the consolation round and punch a ticket to qualify for the ITA Fall Nationals.

What a week it was for Cannon Kingsley as he won the consolation bracket champion at the ITA All-American Championships on Sunday afternoon. Kingsley defeated Notre Dame’s Richard Ciamarra 6-2, 3-6, 7-6(6) in Sunday’s final.
The match was a good back and forth battle. Kinglsey rolled through the first set and then Ciamarra held the upper hand in the second. In the third, the pair remained on serve before Kingsley got the first break to go up 4-3. The two then traded breaks until it was 5-5. Both would finally hold, including Kinglsey fighting off three match points, to force a tiebreaker. In the breaker, Kingsley jumped out 4-2 but then Ciamarra evened the score at 6-6 before Kingsley won two-straight to take the match. Kinglsey’s week started on Wednesday with a loss to Southern Cal’s Riley Smith in the opening round of the main draw. He then dropped into the consolation bracket and would knock-off five consecutive ranked opponents, including No. 79 Zeke Clark of Illinois and No. 38 Jonas Ziverts of Arizona, to take the title.

Team Roster has been released for 2019-20 season.
https://ohiostatebuckeyes.com/sports/m-tennis/roster/
McNally , Seelig, Siebert and Trotter will be counted on for replacing last years core, Wolf, Joyce, and Kobelt. Will take some rebuilding however...
Bold prediction, this incoming freshman class will be considered one day the greatest class in OSU history.

Who are the top 6 at this point in time?

#1 McNally - Jr
#2 Seelig - RsSr
#3 Siebert - Jr
#4 Trotter - So
#5 Kingsly - Fr
#6 Boulias - Fr or Cash - Fr

and that's going to be a really young team.

Looks like Alex Kobelt, 2019 Buck grad landed at unlv and garnered some points from his solid indoor play.

Would have been nice to have Alex Kobelt back; however giving the freshmen more playing time in 2019/2020 should really pay dividends in 2020/2021 and beyond.

Thanks for the spark on this projecting the lineup discussion.
Absolutely agree re. The youth movement. During the columbus challenger in Sept, (after the eye opening performances by Boulais, Trotter and Kingsley,) I commented to coach Tucker, ... grateful for what a great job rebuilding after last years graduations.
Boulais and Trotter were there and overheard his comments in reply, tucker is a competitor but also humble, and real gentleman. His response was appreciative of the talent and projected well for their potential to champion caliber. He has a passion to excel, it’s contagious and they get it. This youth movement is hungry to succeed.
They are ready to do what it takes to keep the big ten team title and compete with the best.
If I had a guess at the 2020 starting lineup...
#1 McNally, Seelig or Kingsley. They will have some fierce inter squad battles for the top spot.
#2 Kingsley or McNally, or Seelig.
#3 Kingsley or Seelig.
#4 Trotter (big performance at the big ten individual championships opened my eyes.)
#5 Boulais, Cash or Siebert. (Winner of inter squad competition.)
#6 Boulais, Cash or Siebert. ( next best of inter squad comp)

The fall nationals draw has been posted for today’s rounds of singles and doubles in California.
Buckeyes are represented by McNally, Seelig, and Kingsley. They have somewhat surprisingly all earned a seed, though a seed does not earn a first round bye.
It appears the women’s Venue has links for live stream and score updates but none posted for men’s venue ... yet.

Two Buckeyes won and advanced in the singles draw. Freshman Kingsley and Junior McNally were winners of their first round matches and McNally paired with Freshman Cash to win and advance in first round of dubs.
Kyle Seelig dropped his first round match but picked up a win this morning in the consolation round.
McNally just finished his 2nd round with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 victory to advance to the round of 16.
Kingsley will be on this afternoon to face a tough wake forest veteran, Botzer, (who is about 25 years old,)
EDIT. Kingsley posted a straight set win to advance.
