Ohio State Men's Tennis (2014/2019/2024 ITA Indoor National Champs, 17 Straight B1G Titles)

Anyone know what's going on with JJ Mercer? Is he injured? I was really interested to see if he and Cash would be paired up, but McNally/Cash look to be the obvious top doubles pairing. I can't wait for the regular season to get started. Since this is such a young team, I'm keeping my expectations reasonable. At this point, all we can do is speculate. That being said, my projected singles lineup:
1. McNally
2. Kingsley
3. Seelig
4. Trotter
5. Boulais
6. Seibert/Cash/Lutschaunig

Doubles:

1. McNally/Cash
2. Seelig/Trotter
3. Kingsley/Boulais

I'm guessing there may be quite a bit of lineup shuffling with this young team, perhaps even with the top 3 singles. Certainly with 2 and 3. Thoughts?

I believe they did not want to waste a year on JJ Mercer just playing doubles so a redshirt year looks probable

I stopped into the National Tennis Center in Orlando a couple of days ago to watch the grandkids taking lessons. It was my first visit there - a few months ago I was going to watch the Buckeye team in the NCAAs in the semifinals; I incorrectly assumed they didn't need my support in the quarters. So I can be blamed for that loss in May, but it was too painful to admit that until now.

I guess tOSU will have to raise ticket prices for tennis, so Coach Tucker can afford to put fuel into tOSU jet, so he can travel farther than the Columbus area for recruits. Landing the #2 (?) is a step down. All the top 10 should be Buckeyes! Just kidding, but.....looks like we've got a very solid base for the next several years. Anyone know off the top how many schollies tennis can hand out? Know the football numbers quite well, but not the 'other' sports. And assume that they can be split (?). Daughter had a split schollie in swimming and H2o polo. Go Bucks!

Buckeye Freshman Cannon Kingsley is into the championship round of the Winter Wildcard playoff at the USTA national campus.
Winners of the competition between 16 entries will receive up to nine wildcards in 2020 pro events.
Kingsley's record of 2-1 in opening rounds qualified him to advance, and his overall win percentage secured the #1 seed in the finals rounds today and Saturday.

4.5 doesn't seem like a lot when there are 6 singles, plus doubles (unless the singles players 'double' up) ((pardon the pun)). Guess this is the effect of Title IX, equal schollies per gender, and making up the 85 football scholarships means cutting men's back in other sports. Oh well, everyone labors under the same constraints. Guess the other kids play for the love of the game.... Go Bucks!

gracelhink, thank you very much for posting this. I've looked all over USTA's site, including the National Campus website at various times this week. No updates, no schedule, no streaming (as far as I could tell). This is a great event and great opportunity for these players. Why is it so difficult for fans to track and watch these matches? Unless it's just me, which is always a possibility.

Preview of the 2020 team by coach.
https://www.crackedracquets.com/ohio-state-tennis-200101/
Cracked Racquets offers this Projection of lineup.
As far as the lineup goes, based on what we know so far, I would expect McNally, Kingsley, and Seelig to fill the top-half of the lineup in some order at #1-3. McNally and Seelig have the experience of playing in those positions while Kingsley produced some eye-popping results in the fall. After that, it seems like there could be a logjam for playing time at the #4-6 positions. Boulais, Cash, Trotter, Seibert, and Mercer could all be fighting for those spots. My best guess would be Boulais, Cash, and Trotter filling that lower half of the lineup with Seibert and Mercer on the outside looking in, at least initially. All of these guys should get the opportunity to show Coach Tucker what they’ve got though during different parts of the spring
.
