Game Thread Ohio State @ Northwestern - 10/18/19, 8:30PM (BTN)

It's Saturday and for the 2nd week in a row there's no Buckeye football. WTH is that all about? Yes we played last night but its' not the same , and what have you done for me lately?
What do we do today ? .... drink.....
And given the second bye week coming up we will have had 3 of 4 Saturdays without an OSU game in the middle of the F'n season.

That team reaction to that 55 yarder to end the half. Definition of team and I'm definition of hung over. Thought it would be a great idea to finish a glass of wine my wife left on the coffee table. Wrong. 10 month old up at 0430 ready to party. Feel like a bag of dicks. Worth it.

17 year ago I was in the same place. The oldest was born in Jan ‘01 so we spent a lot of early Sunday mornings rewatching football games. Coincidently, or maybe not, one of his first words was Buck-a.

My thoughts on the game.

1. The coaching staff makes masterful adjustments on the fly. So far the four best teams we've played have come in with pretty good plans, and have limited us some in the 1st. Then the 2nd quarter starts and we just go to a different level. I believe 100% that our staff is the best in the country.

2. NPF needs a little more time. I'm confident he will be great next season but he struggled in there. Once Munford came in our offense was different.

3. The team is so efficient. We were up 38-3 and hadn't even cracked 400 yards offense. The defense does a great job and so does our special teams when we have to punt. We do a really good job in setting our offense up with short fields.

4. Justin Fields next season will be unstoppable. The guy already is a monster and I believe if we needed him to throw the ball for 350+ he could do that. He's so accurate and makes such good decisions. What's insane is he hasn't had to run hardly at all. Not to jinx him but Fields doesn't even come close to throwing picks. No forces into traffic, no arm punts, and he doesn't lock into people. He makes better decisions than even Dwayne.

5. We've been killing people and getting our back ups a ton of snaps. Shoot I saw #8 and #33 at DE in the 2nd quarter once. That's why when Arnette left Brown steps in and we continue to roll.

6. A little disappointed we gave up over 100 yards rushing considering they have no throwing threat but it was on 40 carries or so. Next week we have to shut down the run if we want to come out on top.

I was a bit concerned about that, but it might've been due to OSU getting upfield so quickly, especially in the first half. I remember multiple replays where guys were a step upfield but already past the RB.

I'm guessing the DL gameplan will be different next week but we'll see.

I think the plan too maybe gave up some yards. We knew they couldn't drive consistently on us so it was all about keep everything infront of us. Still held them under 200 total but the inside run defense needs to up their games next week.

Anyone else notice (or seem to see) that Urban has kinda a hangdog expression when he is asked about how good the Buckeyes are? He seems to wince when he talks about the great QB, and marvelous D, and the dominant Oline. Let alone the DBs and the recently maligned LBs. With virtually the same personnel he coached.....seems to point to the coaches employed when he was the chief-cook-and-bottle washer at tOSU. Feel sorry for him somewhat, and can readily see why he'd like to coach the Dallas Cowboys. (if that happens, Mickey and Pantano might stay with the Buckeyes in Columbus. To his credit, he gives credit to Ryan Day. Still, I'd think it's gotta hurt.
