Game Thread Ohio State @ Northwestern - 10/18/19, 8:30PM (BTN)

It was 7-3 in 3rd qtr vs wisky. NW def can make a game of it if we are sloppy on offense

That's why this game hinges on turnovers and playing sharp. You either execute and you can rest most of the 2nd half, or you make mistakes and you're in a dogfight on the road against a bad team.

Not as concerned about Fields turning the ball over, but can see him holding it a bit too long against the zone and drives stalling. Want him to get confidence before Wisconsin early though, so hopefully things click and they have time to work on the passing game this week.

A LOT more has to go right for Northwestern to stay in it than needs to go right for OSU to blow their doors off.

The talent disparity is enormous

I'd be surprised if we don't take care of business. Yes they did a good job against Wisky but let's be honest Wisky is fairly 1 dimensional and they just creamed scUM the week prior.

I'd like to see us connect on the plays we have open. That means no overthrowing wide open players, no drops on go routes, and no penalty killed drives.

That MSU game Should have been 48-10 or worse and it'd be nice to have a clean game going into Wisconsin.

Avoid the turnovers and connect on what we're given and this is a 49-6 kind of game. If not I wouldn't be shocked to see it 21-10 kind of game late.

I hated everything about Northwestern's stadium, and that's BEFORE I realized they play on 2 feet of uncut grass.

I love Northwestern's stadium but that's b/c I went there once and it was a lawless society. People in the crowd were passing around bottles of vodka. As opposed to Wisconsin where they must have had a sniper in a tower focused on me b/c I took a sip of a tiny bottle of schnapps and 2 minutes later I was being escorted to the drunk tank.

If it was a piss balloon it wouldn’t have been an issue....

After Purdue and Iowa the last couple of years I'm not cocky. Confident, but not "mark it down".

Yet.
After some thought, the circumstances of this Friday's game are completely different than the Iowa/Purdue games of the last two years. OSU was totally drained, emotionally, after both, having come after those roller coaster games with Penn State. Coach Meyer's situation last year didn't help either. Besides, this team, particularly the defense, is vastly improved over last season. Therefore, 49-10 Good Guys.

:day: :boom:

This preview gives the Northwestern defensive yards per play as a “wow” stat.

conveniently neglects the fact that OSU gives up over a yard less per play

I get it; they have to hype their Friday game somehow. But what does it say about the matchup when that’s the best they can do?
