Game Thread Ohio State @ Purdue - 10/20/18, 7:30PM (ABC)

Note to self: don't mix alcohol, your new prescription, and bad football. Fucking hell, I think that's what is meant by a bad trip. :bonk:

Other than the Bucks losing I don't recall much of what I said or did late last night, and probably don't want to. Not even going to read the shit I posted here. If anybody felt targeted, my apologies.

You are retiring rich - and very soon. You feel that you are a Vegas Showgirl trapped in your own body. And you think the linebackers need to think about what their coaches told them, and do the opposite. So same 'ole, same 'ole.

I hate this thought that we have to have a running QB to be a good running team. A lot of teams don’t have running QBs and can still run. Michigan comes to mind.

It’s painfully obvious that our Oline is not good. Again, for all the talent recruited the development is horrendous. There’s no nastiness and no physicality with this line.

We have the backs to run as well as anyone.

Can we please stop with the sick kids and the terminal cancer patients. Nothing against them or what they're going through, but I tune into the foosball for a few hours to escape reality, not have its grimmest aspects shoved in my face for three hours.
Those 4-7 minutes must have been really difficult, especially keeping you from the happy
results of the main attraction. I personally found it "not grim" when one of the few strong performers on O went down with a rough injury and had his heartbreak shown extensively.

We don't need a running quarterback to succeed. A running QB just covers up a lot of o-line deficiencies. We had the same problems under Tressel with Zwick vs Troy and Pryor vs Boeckman. We ran pretty well in 2014 with a pocket passer and good line play.

Upon further reflection, a few thoughts.

First, Haskins had an off night, but this loss is not on him. He's a 1st year starting QB who's played well above expectations, but it's unrealistic to think he could carry this team every single game. He needed a running game last night, and one was nowhere to be found.

The defense just plain sucks, and was finally exposed for what it is. Bosa wouldn't have made a difference.

Coaching was bad on both sides of the ball, and I'm pretty sure that--whether he realizes it or not--Urban has checked out. I said it the day of the press conference that was a guy sitting at the table who probably wasn't coming back next year.

Keep cancer out but what about the walk on whocommits suicide ?

This will go down as one of the all-time 'what could have been' years. Haskins and Bosa for 1 year... and yeah...
Is it a top 3 urban squad? I don't think so.

Bosa is special, but 13-15 had one and a pile more impact players. Haskins is rare but the OL more than negates his strengths. The 16 O is better at this point let alone 13, 14, 15 (and to a lesser extent 17).

This secondary has two possibly high level corners. It has 1-2 starters towards the other end . They've been incredibly loaded in recent years to the point where they had 4 first round picks and the other guy was pretty solid

The DL is good but there have been many others that executed better, particularly against the run.

This might be the worst LB crew this decade, and there were a few whoppers in there.

I think it's a shame that we might only see Haskins this year, but this team is who we thought they were. Also, if these struggels mean another year of Dwayne paired with new assistant coaching, that would be huge.

I get this, but also name me 4 players that the NFL scouts want to get their hands on. Dremont based on production despite his poor decision making? Chase Young based on potential? Dwayne Haskins based on one year of starting? JK Dobbins if they just watch his freshman film? None of the LBers, CBs, or safeties. The receivers will be undrafted free agents, as will a couple of bodies along the offensive line. Jeremy Ruckert was described as being the most dynamic TE Meyer has recruited has 1 catch for 13 yards on the season while the other 3 can’t go 3 plays without blowing assignments.
Good point... We have recruited just as well as Alabama and yet once again another loss by 30 for the third season in a row.

Our players are undisciplined and we constantly get out coached. So in saying that yes we are getting out coached but IMO teams have us to a tee at this point. They know what we want to do on both sides of the ball and when we want to do it. Until we break our tendencies we are going to continue seeing these performances.

Just out right tired of hearing the words "exposed" or "exploited" or "broken"... stop talking and fix it.

Go to someone 3rd party and ask them what they're seeing... sometimes you can't see your own issues. I think thats the case here

Bright side is this should probably get Fuller to come back on defense. He's been underwhelming too if we are being honest right?

Defense won't be good though until the LBs play correctly... until then we will continue to give up large chunks and will continue to be average.
